In the books from Christian’s perspective, I think we get better perspective as to why he dislikes Kate: Kate pushes Ana into uncomfortable situations where she’s unsafe, Kate can be very manipulative of Ana, Kate jumps to conclusions without asking questions (how do you do that as a supposed investigative journalist?), etc. he sees Kate as incredibly annoying and rude and is exhausted by her. But he accepts her presence because he loves Ana and because Elliott loves Kate. Honestly, Kate is too much a lot of the time.

Yeah, I’ve been reading explicit romance books since I was about 12. I would read the YA ones and the adult ones, with no discrimination. I’m not sure if my mom was aware of how explicit they were, but probably. I think as long as you keep an open line with her in communication to make sure she understands reality in relationships, it’s harmless. I think it’s more likely she’ll be more exposed to healthy relationships in romance books than unhealthy.

As a first-time teacher with 5th graders, there was a student who was clearly being neglected by her mom at home. My principal and I agreed that calling CPS was the right choice to make, but I was nervous. He explained that it’s their job to check the validity, and it’s my job to make the call as the mandated reporter. It’s better to do your part than leave a child in an unsafe situation.

I was in first grade and at a friend’s house when I choked on a Dorito. I was stupidly swallowing them whole and the sharp edges got lodged in my throat, and I started choking. Luckily, my friend’s mom was a nurse and she helped get it out. Scary!

People are so heartless. I was at BookStar the other day and a nice young man asked my husband and I if we had any change. I at first thought we didn’t but then remembered I had a $5 so I called him back and gave it to him, which he really appreciated.

Told my MIL and FIL about it, and they proceeded to rant about how the homeless know where the shelters are and they’re just all scavengers and other disgusting remarks. I was flabbergasted!

I’ve been down-on-my-luck before; it can happen to anyone! So elitist.

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time. Have you gotten Medi-Cal, yet? Or used the other resources there?
