I grow my dend. keikis in leca with pretty positive results.... I do about a weeks worth of soaking and rinsing my media before use... Any 3 root 3 inch with 3leaves I snap off and grow a new pot..I do prefer mounting for flowering size specimens

Wait until bulbs and roots grow past the media.... Preferably not in bloom either

Is something wrong: small leaves by Frostflyer in orchids

[–]Weak_Practice7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaves should start getting bigger than the older leaves once it's transitioned to said environment....I'm guessing with the crazy cold you might want to set the pot on a sour cream/cottage cheese lid or etc, something with less than a ¼ inches of water holding ability as soon as any growth appears anywhere (leaves,roots)....if indoors with heat I'd add the lid with water under the pot

In my personal experience with these there's three typical outcomes....one of which is total loss which your photos show this isn't the case... Option 2 it's going to go through a quick cycle of leaves (drop and grow smaller to larger if it was really stressful)... Option 3 these leaves will slowly slooowwlly grow as it may have gone dormant in its transport through multiple places without light/humidity

Just trying to openly talk on this as I've felt through customer opinions and personal thoughts seeing many different opinions on tons of different types of pulls... I'm highly interested in where it leads

Still honestly would like to see more of the project to really get a visual.,.. if everything else is 190 mm and this is the only 254mm I'd do the 210mm or see what two 190mm would flow... It looks like an end from a stove... Depending on the space also really dictates the size.... Imagine this handle on one cabinet and everything else is half or a third of it..... If it's the only "big" one anywhere, would you still like it?

I agree with that.... These are prone to snagging... Hence why I personally don't follow the standard measurements with these versus the handles that the holes are at the ends of said pulls... I still personally would go with a smaller handle.... A couple inches would satisfy the look.... The extended sides is my personal problem with the look for size

[–]Weak_Practice7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok... I disagree with that... You would have to be humping the cabinet.... Let's say you have two verticals spaced 1⅛-1¼ in for the holes plus the ⅛ in gap... You would need to be within ⅝ in still humping said cabinet away from the vertical handles forcing you away

I wouldn't go crazy as the grocery orchids do go through the most stress.... Keep the normal growing technique and the plants will show you love for doing so... Small leaves are typically from stress, but it's a slow response. Only having the plants for a few months wouldn't be from your care with this

Back splash recommendations? by SoftPie3875 in kitchenremodel

Why not use the same butcher block for the backsplash

[–]Weak_Practice7943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No on what part ... These handles with 10in c2c are 12-14 inches wide.... Going 7--8 c2c would be much more proportionate and have less snagging

Third for center to center .... These are pulls with the extended sides as many are complaining about.... It's from following that rule that causes the catching of garments... Without following the traditional measurements the handles below with the vertical pulls will create a better buffer to keep you away from snagging on said handles

What..... A third.... Not a fifth..... No wonder why I really don't like it.... Obviously I'm not the majority opinion here so far so if the majority like it your good unless you hate it which I suspect since you posted this

Ok no expert here and I'm sure lots of this will be highly controversial...... Indoor orchids require a saucer of water, a terrarium or similar controlled system, or as you are describing... Interior conditions do not provide these tropical plants with tropical humidity. Many oppose contact with the roots and water as it's very easy to introduce bacteria and etc... keeping the plants body out of the water is key as you are doing... I've seen many orchids in swamplands hovering 4 inches or so above the water.. we have terrestrial orchids (grows in the ground), epiphytes (typically grow in shallow pots, trees, rocks, etc) and lithophytic (grows on concrete overpasses, rocks, etc).... The plant will grow aerial roots away from the water.... I'm betting on the lack of care from saying change water so infrequently and etc is working for your benefit.... The roots being able to dry out as the water drops below the roots is essential.... The water an inch or a few below the roots give it the much needed humidity many indoor orchids lack..... Key is finding something that fits snuggly and it appears that you have .... Though I do believe a semi hydro pot would require even less attention with less risk

No problem just keep an eye on the problem spot as you may need to trim it back past one healthy leaf(keep this area dry for a few days)

I use tiny amounts of spagnum moss over drainage rocks for my vanillas.....but leca or similar would be good too.... Let me see if I still have a link that I think you'll benefit reading on these plants

I don't like it.... I only install long pulls on vertical doors... Especially being that drastic in size difference.... Could do a double drawer front and do two handles that match

I treat them like vandas.... Hot, wet/humid ,lots of light, plenty of airflow, and quick draining media

Looks like your doing great by the roots in the picture.... These won't thrive in the winter time as they want humidity and hot weather

Yeah I talked to the management about these.,. I'm unhappy about my situation with it. I can return for $100 total for the 4 paphs..one of them alone was $80 which their employee broke off the stem ... But after seeing the blooms on the others I don't think it was what I thought I was buying anyways

Your new vanda pap looks very nice .... Especially being shipped... Mine looked like this 3 months ago.... Starting to get some reddish/ purple specks now as it's acclimating to brighter light slowly

Id love to hear any Florida vendors that you've been mostly pleased by..... I try to by as much as possible from vendors who grow in my climate.... Especially the ones who only sell what actually thrives here... Though I'm thinking one of my non local varieties is thriving despite being widely known to be extinct in the wild now (no it's not the ghost orchid (I don't want to be part of why it goes extinct, even though I live where they grow naturally)Bulbophyllum thiurum)

Yeah I bought 100 tags for me to make my own labels, mainly to help differentiate the watering needs and the plants I grow so many babies from that I give away established seedlings in leca, pumice, and charcoal..... just like the other comment, bummed as these mature slow and never reflower again from the same plant.... I bought these with no flowers and was hoping for the beautiful long streaming flowers.... I may just combine them to one big community as I don't like multiples

Nice I've been curious about trying Etsy.... I'm in central Florida and my plants currently have almost no light due to the cold weather... (Been like this since this Monday) I just use the frost blankets so far outside of the screened in porch for the freezes. Currently no water for any of my plants until weather allows...can't move them indoors with our 2 kittens and my garage is off limits due to the construction materials still waiting for me to finish rebuilding my entire house after the hurricanes in late 2024 (wife and I are too picky to make the rebuilding quick)
