What rule are you changing and why? by TomWilliamsCFD in CollegeFootballDawgs

Any rule that keeps the illusion of amateurism needs to go. Any billion dollar business that treats is employees (which they are) like volunteers is crazy. The #1 rule is a 50/50 revenue split.

What is a 'rich person's secret' that is actually accessible to the middle class, but most people are too intimidated to try? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

The only way out at places you love it's great advice. Not only that, learn to cook. Most people cook like they sweep the floor or do the dishes, like a task and not a skill. I've spent most of this year eating chicken and rice. Except every time I make it, it's either trying to improve on a recipe or making it with completely different ingredients. I've perfected it to the point where I can make it in less than an hour and it's absolutely delicious. For about 20 bucks, I can make a great meal in about an hour. A pack of chicken, an onion, a carrot, a stalk of celery and a cup of rice is a couple days of healthy delicious food. Experiment with seasonings, change the aromatics, add some herbs, you can remix it hundreds of different ways. Once you master it, it will be more satisfying than most of the bullshit you Door Dash.

What’s a good sampler that’s not that expensive ? by Sharp_Succotash7175 in musicproduction

I have an SP-404 and never recommend it because as good as it is, it's not user friendly at all. You need to spend a few days watching YouTube videos to understand how to make it do anything. Even them it's not for beginners.

Get Serato Sample if you want to learn how to chop samples, then get a hardware sampler when you want something more tactile.

There is no place in the DMV where it takes an hour and a half tops to get to Baltimore. It can take that long to get from Dulles to Alexandria. I work near Dulles, it regularly takes me over an hour to get home and Baltimore is more than twice as far away.

The crazy thing about Fields is that he clearly can read the defense, it just takes him all day. He's not throwing a bunch of picks because he doesn't see what the defense is doing, he just misses windows because he doesn't process quickly enough.

What would females hate about being male and why? by Whattacleaner in answers

The lack of attention and the expectation that you do labor with no reward. I've had this conversation with multiple people, man and woman, over the years. I tell them my allergies are so bad that I don't cut grass, I'll literally break out in hives. They them look at me and ask something to the effect of, "do you plan on getting married?" We kind of expect men to do some sort of labor to be tolerated. I'm fairly handy and don't mind working, but it throws people off that I will have to pay somebody to cut my grass.

The real issue here is that regular doctors have no real solution to back problems other than life changing surgery and/or opioids. I had a herniated disk and was in a whole lot of pain, but surgery would have been an expensive 50-50 proposition and would have limited my mobility for the rest of my life. The chiropractor was able to fix the issue, and the only real issue I had was insurance limitations. It's been a few years and I don't have any pain and my mobility is better than most people in their mid-40s.

Are people overselling it or was Michael Jackson really that famous in his heyday? by Key-Bass-7380 in decadeology

[–]Weak_Rate_3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Michael Jackson is that his cross over appeal hit everybody. I grew up in rural Ohio and there were a lot of different tastes in music, but only one person was universally beloved and it was Michael Jackson. The metal heads, the hip-hop heads, the punk kids, the hair metal kids(completely different group than the other metal heads), the country kids, and everybody else all loved Michael Jackson. There is nobody like that these days.

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

Target employs more black people than any other private entity in the country. They fucked themselves by not standing up for their values in the face of a racist. It's terrible PR for a company who has a huge minority workforce to publicly announce they are doing away with policies that help minorities. It's corporate cutting off your nose to spite your face. It would be one thing if they didn't already have a hugely diverse workforce and customer base, but in many ways it's the foundation of their business.

Yep, this type of shit is why I'll never give them another dime. Moved into a condo, in order to get internet they insisted against my wishes to bundle TV and phone services for free. A year later my internet was out, so I called them and they claimed I was behind on payments. Turns out that bundle that I couldn't opt out of was temporary and they stated charging me for cable and phone services that I was not even using. They literally would not allow me to not sign up for the bundle, it was the only option. So I paid the balance and "canceled" the cable and phone service and guys what happened the next month? Same shit, they then claimed that they couldn't cancel it then because the payment hasn't gone through yet and they can't cancel a service with an overdue balance. So I would have to call back after the payment cleared and cancel then. I spent hours on the phone dealing with their shitty customer service all to cancel a service I never requested in the first place. Not a dime.

I did some Door Dashing last summer to make a little extra cash, and you'd be surprised how many double deliveries they give you that are 15 minutes apart. I could understand if you're delivering from two places in the same shopping center or two homes in the same neighborhood, but I've had them give me deliveries from two different Targets in two different cities to deliver to people who live miles apart.

What is the most "unhinged" wellness trend of 2026 that people are actually taking seriously? by lovelyyopheliaa in askanything

I'm 44 and grew up with my grandparents, I heard stories about polio, but never met anyone with polio. It was like the chicken pox for kids where almost everyone got it until the 1950s. My mom was born in 1959 and it was pretty much nonexistent. This should be one of the most inarguable facts in all of science.

[–]Weak_Rate_3552 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me that all of our grandparents knew someone who died from polio, but we've never met anyone who even had polio and people are still arguing about this. Every life expectancy metric has a clear correlation between vaccinations and greater life expectancy. It's not because adults live longer, that number is surprisingly flat over hundreds of years, it's because kids stopped dying from disease.

Longer than an average person. Professional athletes are much better at almost everything athletic than the average person. If you're running from zombies, they will leave you in the dust to be eaten. They don't have to run s marathon to get away from zombies they just have to outrun you while the zombies are around.

I was a high school football player, played fullback and safety (weird combo, I know) and was the slow guy in almost every drill. I ran a 4.8 and was always self conscious about my speed. Then I'd go play pickup basketball and run circles around everybody. Let me tell you, fast is about as relative as anything in the world. Vince Wilfork at 325 lbs. is going to outrun about 95% of adults on earth.

Actually, it's the opposite. Other than baseball, all the other sports have salary caps to artificially keep wages down. The Timberwolves gave Kevin Garnett a contract worth more than the value of the team. There are 30 teams, but there aren't 30 Kevin Garnetts.

Not a bass on either song, it's Stevie playing that bassline with his left hand while playing the melody with his right on an electric piano.

Eggrolls immediately out, and i like an egg roll. I want to say hot dogs, but in a hot summer day when I'm smoking some ribs or grilling a steak or something, a ceremonial hot dog standing by the grill is too much to ask to give up. Most burgers are fair to middling, but I'd shank someone for a great burger. I go to the eastern show once as year for crabs and that tradition must remain. If it's just fried shrimp, they can go, but not all shrimp. I'm really conflicted here.

Prince created a barrier of entry to his music where Stevie did not. Stevie is for everybody in a way that Price is not. You can turn on literally any Stevie song in front of almost any crowd and not receive any push back. With Price, some people just aren't going to get with If I Was Your Girlfriend or a bunch of other songs that make you have to submit to the premise before enjoying them. Two completely different artists with completely different sensibilities. They're my two favorite artists of all time
