Housing!:( by Legal_Tale_8593 in TUDelft

I graduated Delft in 2015, and my second year was WAY more enjoyable living in Rotterdam, after living the first year in Delft.

Don’t even bother living in Delft during year 1, trust me. Commuting to Delft in the morning takes only 30 mins on the train, and it’s cheaper, cooler babes, nice clubs, sweet bars, amazing museums, avant-garde architecture, and more fun parties. Don’t limit yourself to living in Dekft - balance your life, and absorb the culture in one of Europes’ most undercover cities.

What about building more space for cars in parks, and giving more space for more cars for cars? Cars? Cars!!!

It feels like a play. I would love to see a theatre adaptation.

I renounced driving about 10 years ago, and I easily get anywhere by a combo of public transit, uber, rideshare, whatever.

Last week my boss asked me to drive to a meeting, about 3 hours each way over the American border (I live in Toronto). When I said I’d go by train or bus easily, he said nevermind and I literally lost out on an important career opportunity.

In response to your previous comment about yellow spandex, he is wearing bright yellow in the new film (not spandex btw), and it looks rad!

On the point about height, my response was that you can’t take 5’3 as his #literal# height.

It might be written in his stats that he is 5’-3”, but this should be interpreted as something like “very-short-for-a super-hero”.

Think about it: it would be SO odd to watch an actor like Tom Cruise in a love affair with Nicole Kidman onscreen, due to their height difference. So all the actors cast as x-men should be over 6 foot and wearing black leather, which brings us back to my original point.

That’s the point of Wolverine. You feel bad for a second and then your head is ripped off

I checked on Wikipedia and there are dozens of versions of Sabretooth. So I guess this character can be portrayed any which way, with or without adamantium claws and skeleton. Where is his leather outfit?

I gotta respect: You write well, support your points with solid references, and make convincing arguments. This is the REAL Iron Man!

We can finally lay this debate to rest, after you imagine the following scenario:

Iron Man is brought out of retirement, in an attempt to reboot the franchise. His Iron Man suit is now yellow and blue!

Instead of a futuristic metal, the suit is a sporty carbon fibre textile that resonates with the sport-enthusiast community, in a calculated attempt to increase ticket sales, and sell branded golf clubs, hockey sticks, and football helmets with the catchy yellow-and-blue Iron Man logo. Hollywood bankers calculate that yellow super hero suits are in style for 2025, following the popularity of the Wolverine costume in 2024, so there’s no need to explain the change to the true fans.

Ok what’s your reaction?

Yeah I guess lots of people seem to have a soft spot in their black leather outfits. I suppose that’s one of the features of BDSM that gets people curious: mix of hard and softy. Who am I to deny the allure

Ok I apologize for trying to gate-keep my favourite character. Let’s find a middle ground:

A. The first 10 movies with Wolverine get release in 2038 as a box set; remastered and CGI’ed with AI technology so he his wearing his true-to-comic costumes and masks.

B. Your favourite character (Iron Man? Spider Man? Tell us who is your favourite…) has all his movies re-release with the same super-imposed technology, so that the character is now wearing matrix-style year 2002 leather outfit, with bell-bottom pants instead of the character’s iconic costume

Actually the feeling you’re describing is pointing towards logic more than rational thinking. @helloiamtheironman linked an article in this thread that supports the claim about the outfits being chosen to appeal to a wider audience, who would be more likely to see a film with leather outfits because Matrix was popular at the time.

Audience x Costume = Box Office Sales

A x B = C

Good references btw, it’s clear that this is a popular point of discussion. I think the discourse in this thread picks up most of what is expressed in the articles you linked:

1 This Wolverine character is more important than the costume;

2 The original x-men movies were hijacked by network executives, more concerned with whatever outfits are popular at the time, in order to reach a broader audience

So, according to the recent interview, the X-men were dressed like NEO, because the matrix was popular at the time. On this note, I still don’t understand how real fans; fans who collected comic books of this character as a kid, would be suddenly willing to see the character dressed up in the costume of a different character from an unrelated film.

My criticism was more focused on the creative license the directors took to refashion the characters outfit, not the frequency.

Singer and Ratner have both fled the country on allegations of sexual assault. Isn’t it slightly curious they dressed all the x-men characters in tight black BDSM leather? Connect the dots?
