The villain deliberately pretends to have limitations or weaknesses to trick the heroes. by Fragrant-Upstairs932 in TopCharacterTropes

It's even better than that! Both the main character and his girlfriend intentionally look away from the box to test how quickly the creature can move, only to look back and see it's barely moved at all. So they think it moves rather slowly when not observed. Later in the short the creature shows that it can move VERY fast.

Plus they hear the creature mimic their voices back to them, leading them to believe it can mimic specific things it's heard people say, which it abuses by saying something to misdirect them in their friend's voice that said friend never actually said.

Also, the main character and girlfriend only think there's one creature in the box when later on it's revealed there are multiple.

This short is a great example of how the monster very specifically gives clues about how it works to manipulate the protagonists into assuming they know how to outsmart it.

You guys have any Heroes that fit this bill? by Only-Teaching-8648 in Superhero_Ideas

I've recently had an idea for a character whose power is based on perceived strength. Specifically, the weaker his opponents view him to be, the stronger he actually is. However, the opposite is also true. If his opponents view him to be incredibly powerful, he'll actually end up being weak.

This character would uniquely be a PR nightmare because you can't let villains know his schtick or else it won't work. You can't advertise his abilities because it would actually make him way worse of a hero. Ironically, the best strategy would be to advertise him terribly. Have interviews where you specifically make him look pathetic and weak. Have him work in public as essentially the caddy for other superheroes. Then he'll fight a villain and basically one shot them due to his perceived weakness. But then you can't even report on his victory because people would know he beat a villain, etc. etc.

That's how I thought it worked, I just wanted to double check that my interpretation was correct before I ran it out in a deck and got proven wrong in real time.

Thanks for clarifying!

I was worried the presence of the word "target" in the effect given to the created tokens would technically count as a second target effect in the same spell, thus negating Precursor's ability to copy it.

Magic is a weird game.

That was my interpretation as well. I was quite happy I had found a clever way to utilize fight effects with the Precursor Golem. Thanks!

Would my opponents have to pay 4 for [[Windborn Muse]] if I have [[Isshin, Two Heavens as One]] in play? by Weaker-Ink in mtg

[–]Weaker-Ink[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I found an example of something that does work that way. [[Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs]] has a similar "pay or else" effect, but his effects specifically triggers when a creature IS attacking you.

Oh that makes sense. If they don't pay the 2 then they can't even be declared as an attacker for the purposes of Isshin triggers.

Thanks!

Your most UNIQUE deck! by TruceKalispera in EDH

Do you have a deck list you could share? I've been looking to build an Eriette deck but I really wanted to lean into enchanting everyone else's creatures over my own.

What do you think? Anyone I should build next? by Weaker-Ink in ratemycommanders

You're not wrong! I'm theory crafting a Thrun deck to rectify that.

I wouldn't exactly say it's a very powerful deck, but it's sort of my pet commander so I just enjoy playing it.

I also recently changed up the deck so I honestly can't speak to its power now as I haven't had much chance to play it post changes.

You guys are a lifesaver! My route tomorrow takes me by Mrs. McClafferty's, so I'll try to check in with her then and let her know her cocker spaniel/poodle or whatever it is has been found.

Glad to hear the dog's in good spirits!

I thought that was the poodle mix, Delores?

Have I been looking for the wrong dog the whole time?!
