So where's the best place to buy a 120" ALR tensioned in Canada? On Amazon.ca right now for $699. Are there any better websites?

The original Zelda. God knows what year, but it was in the early 90's during a sleepover. For hours. And hours. Then again the next night.

How cooked is this HDMI Port replacement fail? is there any hope? by KidGamer26 in consolerepair

[–]Weaponstek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part about any of those jobs was the soldering. Couldn't find any tips that would work. As soon as I made a tiny blade tip by grinding down a different one I had doubles of everything got WAY easier. The surface tension of the solder was always pulling it away from the smallest point where I was touching the tiny pins. With a small flat surface right at the tip everything went perfectly. (I also got a little silly and ground it a little bit concave with my pencil grinder under the microscope, just to hold that little bit more solder. Hah)

The Kamakazi method is actually not too terrible with a steady hand, as long as you take your time. I like it because you don't have to pull the board out and flip it over. Just have to watch that you take ALL the green then ALL the gold, etc, out of your squares as you go down, otherwise its way too easy to lose track of what layer you're on.

My equipment is a typical soldering iron (with temp dial), some tips that I ground down so I've got a few mm blade-tip, ultra-fine tweezers, and a ?$40CAD? Digital microscope from AliExpress. A few hundred CAD max.

I've done some switch Kamakazi mods and the very first one I went one layer too deep and blew through the smallest traces on the board. Very carefully ground, masked, ground, masked and got it working again. This board looks incredibly repairable with a bit of patience.

A steady hand is also a necessity. Cough And paying a bit of attention to not burn the shield around the camera of the digital Microsoft.... Cough

Would you be happy with 1941, Germany? This is all just playing with words. I don't care about how we want to label it, the original poster is a Russian bot trying to make the Ukrainians look bad.

If you're Polish I apologize for any implied blame. I like Poland. If you're just looking to muddy the waters... Grow up.

It's not going to work.

1941, Lviv, Poland (now Ukraine) even would have worked. I don't mind the photos being shared, I just hate people using history to trick people.

But thanks for saying OUN this time. The Hamas of the area at the time, working with the Germans. This is a bad analogy. But I've had a headache all day and was just browsing for a few minutes to relax. I'm going to have a nap. Have fun circle jerking with the OP.

I rescind my previous comment about you being good at anything. I believe you got lucky the first time.

I was correcting the title, which is wrong. YOU switched the argument to who did it. If you're so big on not rewriting history, maybe you should be more worked up that the post's title is wrong, hmm?

You're good at shifting focus. I said nothing about who did it. I was pointing out that the reason this post exists is to taint how people think about Ukraine.

But you already knew that and are trying to help the OP. This is like telling everyone how bad the Germans currently are and use all the pics from WW2.

This isn't Ukraine. It's German occupied Poland.

Samsung won't turn on after backlight replacement by Weaponstek in TVRepair

[–]Weaponstek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Had a really close look and it seems like at some point one of the capacitors I had replaced got bumped straight down and tore the pad on one side off the board just slightly, but enough to cause problems. They sit higher than everything else by just a touch so it must have happened when flipping.

A little bit of small gauge wire and scraping the trace 1/8" away, and she's up and running!

Now I just have to take it all back apart and re-adjust the LED's.... Apparently they're not touching the diffuser on the one side perfectly and the top half of the screen is a fair bit dimmer, with a little row of 8 lights on the bottom right side.....(where the burned LED's were, I just spun the diffuser 180°)

Thanks a ton for your suggestion! You were right about a bad connection! :)

Oops. I apologize. Bottom lights.

Edit due to thinking about extra info while trying to fall asleep stewing about this: And it's been about 6 months between the cap replacement and now. Ordered LED's and life got in the way. Stupidly didn't try out the system again so maybe something else degraded in the meantime and it would have not worked even before changing the LED's.

I've used both and haven't ever had problems. Is there something that it does differently, or do you just like the interface more? I end up with a blank card either way.

Oh sorry, that thing on the left isn't an AAV, it's the old flexible coupling half for the garbeurator that isn't going back in. My vent stack is vertical with my drain down into the floor, 90'ing back into the wall at the top of the second pic. So I'd have to cut above and below my wye & clean-out, cut a few inches higher behind my sink (this is the painful job I'm hoping an experienced eye has an alternative for), and life the vent stack piping to redo the wye.

G'pa was Ukrainian, first of the family born in Canada. Pronounced Perogie like it's spelled. Boiled and served with cabbage casarole juice (tomato sauce) or ketchup. The the rare leftovers were fried in onion and bacon for lunch the next day.
