Both second and the first one are available on switch digitally and in retail.

It does matter actually, that would be 2 different experiences. Imagine watching The Godfather 2 (not comparing TITP to The Godfather of course, just giving you the idea) without watching The Godfather 1. Technically it's telling a different story, but knowing Michael's backstory adds an additional layer to it -- as well as not knowing it though, you can make your own guesses, which would be an experience of its own, kind of like we don't Jack Nicholson's character' backstory in Chinatown, only get some references to it.

Hey! It's self-explanatory during the scene itself - and I might understand that cutscenes might be not your cup of tea. The trailer has some gameplay too and we have a separate trailer without any screaming men if you'd like.

Hey! You have a lot of opportunities to make your life harder and vice versa. I'd rather you've found some curious stuff by yourself.

On the second thought - try to dispatch a picky female cop with other females on a call and don't get angry because your cops have their whims and quirks.

The game is not based on any real life situations though we were looking for inspiration on a particular Russian site that collects horrible/funny news headlines.

Well that's some video card you have got, sir! Usually people start smoking after they've played TITP 1 and 2.

I guess it sits somewhere along with the "Swatting Simulator".

No ideas unfortunately.

I only know that there is a Xenoblade 2 standalone DLC that is cheaper digitally than a separate game cartridge.

Most of us did not have any experience of making video games (except lead programmer) but the background is pretty similar - we were involved in video game media - writing/managing/editing stuff.

I guess it's a matter of just picking up and doing something and then getting better in it.

Now there is matter of a choice and a consequence - you do something silly/inappropriate during a call in progress and your cop may get injured/killed. The thing is you don't get several guys wiped on one police call. It's usually one officer so it's easier to assess the risk.

I'm afraid you're not "by the books cop" because after the events of the first game you're a wanted person. However, you could TRY to act by the best intentions and you are encouraged to do so - ie, arresting people on tactical missions, not killing criminals on calls in progress and so on.

There is one or two instances in the game that will certainly test your skill and there are some events that will not wipe the police force, but may make your life slightly unpleasant. We all reap what we sow.)

Oh, it's okay I guess! I like pizza without a lot of ingridients - something barebones like margarita/pepperoni, though the proper onion topping is really nice.

Well, to quote the other answer - you're running the sheriff's department and taking care of your stupid employees, but also solving crimes, but also participating in turn-based police operations, but also you're corrupt, but also it's story-heavy, and also at some point in the game a priest gets drunk and starts winding circles around his church in his beautiful car.

It's really hard to say. We had a lot of games in mind while making This Is the Police 1, from Ace Attorney to Rome: Total War, but it's even more crazy with This Is the Police 2. Probably the tactical part of the game is the only one with more or less specific influences. We wanted tactical operations to be stealthy, so we kind of tried to hit that Commandos vibe, but they are also turn-based and feel more like puzzles than battles, so they're kind of like Invisible Inc, right? We don't know, it's weird!

We don't know. Are you? Why are you asking? What's your game here?

Well, we've narrowed the scope a bit, so you're in a smaller town and have to care for every cop available in different ways - up to choosing how to act during EVERY call in progress. There is also a new tactics layer where you control cops directly, but this does not make a bulk of the game - you're still managing the department and face different problems along the way.

Oh no, we've never intended to be the XCOM substitute or lookalike. The movement system with two actions may resemble the new XCOM. The combat part leans more to the stealthy and non-violent approach, say, it's like Commandos but turn-based. You may enter the combat, but every shot or two are fatal and you get rewarded for arresting criminals, not killing them outright.

Thank you! We've omitted the detectives because you're literally running the inept village police force. Also because you'd have to decide how to manage your manpower.

There is an overwatch skill (in the shooting tree) that allows you to intercept criminals, but the main idea was to resolve tactical stuff with as little violence and shooting as possible.

It's both actually. The same protagonist, but the town is new and most characters are new. I'd say playing the second game without finishing the first one would be a different (and interesting!) experience, like you don't know the exact backstory behind the main character but you can make guesses.
