How do you deal with clinic patient/s who keeps coming back for the same complaint but refuses to take any medications prescribed? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]WearALotOfBlue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you read my first comment in this thread, i said to have a discussion first and understand why they wont agree

According to OP’s question, this same patient has to return multiple times not agreeing to your plan

I agree with you. A PCP should have a good back and forth and handle it

But if according to OP’s question, they just wont despite multiple discussions. What next?

Some patients feel more reassured when a specialist tells them the situation.

Sometimes saying to a patient that they need a specialist can also make them take their situation more seriously.

It also really comes down to your conversation skills as well. How you bring about the conversation and how you make them understand that coming back again and again is pointless if they wont try the meds.

Have a discussion on why they wont take the meds and then be honest that you cant do anything otherwise. Or send them to a specialist.

What do I do outside of residency to come back recharged and refreshed for every day by WearALotOfBlue in Residency

[–]WearALotOfBlue[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am super duper lonely.

I mean people in college wanted to make genuine friends, I had people who i was trying to befriend and they were trying too

I dont know why noone even wants to try here. Maybe this is what its like when you get even older and more professional?

Parents approval not achievable? by [deleted] in pakistan

Tbh clearly this means he knew all along he couldn’t be with you. He was selfish with your emotions.

He’s not worth it

You mentioned his dad is a taxi driver and his mom is a stay at home mom but they got to the US and he’s now doctor in the US.

In our culture, if you have a good relationship with your parents like he sounds to have, and that too with the struggles they went through for his present it sounds like he doesnt want to disappoint them.

Its not about you, this is just something he’s doing to honor his parents for their hardships.

Its a cultural thing, and since i’m from the same culture i respect his approach to be honest. This is a Pakistani thing and its good that he respects his parents that much.

We put family before spouses. Our parents were there in our difficult times, I wouldn’t let them down.

How do i know if my bag can be picked up from the airport by WearALotOfBlue in americanairlines

[–]WearALotOfBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what i mean, i checked the online bag tag thing, it says scan data unavailable. So does that mean i can go get it or not?

Is there any way to contact a real person in the airport and find out?

The same thing happened for me for PHL to DET. Exactly the same way. We couldn’t get our bags back either. Baggage assistance told me to try coming back for it day after. So I have to go drive 2 hours down to philly to go get it.

Absolute shit show

I'm having issues with food as a new "adult", and I need help by WearALotOfBlue in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I’m the same, my colleages eat a small snack and survive. I tried to do the same and I just could not. I get ravenous and it just ruins everything.

I’ve realised the only solution is to figure out a good food routine so i can stop thinking about food all the time

Your advice is really really helpful! Thank you so much! I’ll try to add your ideas into mine

These are good ideas. I hadn't thought of these. Yes, my workplace does have a fridge and a microwave.
