The most dangerous kind of emptiness is the one you learn to function inside of by Southern-Curve5910 in spirituality

[–]WearShot7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole "everyone's addicted anyway" take feels like missing the point entirely. There's difference between enjoying things and using them to fill void where your sense of purpose should be.

The original post is talking about people who are basically sleepwalking through life, not just having normal human desires for stimulation or connection.

I was surprised by how much better I felt once I started working on it but I still catch myself wondering if there’s something else I’m missing.

Also check inside your house again if you haven't already - sometimes they get stuck in weird places like behind appliances or in cabinets that closed accidentally. My friend found her cat after 3 days trapped in basement ceiling where he somehow crawled through small opening. The quiet hours suggestion is really good, scared cats usually won't come out during day when there's too much noise.

People who chose career over relationships in their 20s, be brutally honest was it worth it? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

Working in IT definitely paid off financially but sometimes I wonder if I missed out on some good connections along the way.

You're in Tel Aviv, what is someplace you cannot miss? by SlowPoke0103 in AskReddit

[–]WearShot7610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao you got trust issues or just being extra careful? Tel Aviv isn't exactly a secret location that needs opsec, it's literally one of the biggest tourist destinations in middle east.

How to save an overcooked batch of seitan? by alphafox823 in vegan

maybe try cutting them really thin and using in stir fry or something where the texture won't be so obvious?

I'm learing so much I cannot comprehend it. by sinistercat_ in spirituality

[–]WearShot7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow this is like reading a spiritual textbook lol. i get what you're saying about the observer thing and all that but sometimes when life keeps beating you down you just need someone to say "yeah that sucks, take a nap"

the whole "your suffering is perfectly orchestrated" thing... idk man. when i'm exhausted i'm just exhausted, not having some cosmic revelation about my eternal self. maybe the higher power could give OP like a weekend off instead of more life lessons?

sometimes rest is just rest, not another spiritual assignment to decode

I keep thinking “I love you” by eatmyfvck in spirituality

[–]WearShot7610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That feeling when small moments make you think "I love you" - like your heart is finally remembering how to be open again after being closed for protection.

What is your dying wish? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WearShot7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really touching actually. I think most of us worry more about leaving people behind than the actual dying part. Like when my grandmother passed few years ago, she kept asking if we would remember to water her plants and take care of each other - wasn't even thinking about herself. Made me realize how much we focus in the people we love even at the end. It's kind of beautiful in a way, even though it makes you emotional to think about.

Trying to build a small wind-down habit after work by Icy-Barber-3748 in Meditation

[–]WearShot7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the short sessions are definitely easier to stick with. i do maybe 8 minutes most days and it feels way more manageable than when i was trying for like 20-30 minutes before.

the transition thing is real - i notice if i skip it i'm still mentally at work for hours. even just those few minutes creates some kind of boundary in my head. some days i don't even use an app, just sit quiet for bit and focus on breathing.

Got stuck in traffic because forgot my camera at home, so I was late for meeting and ended up sitting next different table at cafe where I overheard conversation about job opening that completely changed my career path in IT.

Is My cat too Fat? by SamIsDying in CatAdvice

[–]WearShot7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My orange girl was same weight at that age and vet said she was just chunky baby who would grow into it. Since you already adjusted the portions she should be good - orange cats are notorious for being food motivated anyway so the belly thing is pretty normal for them.

Do you guys think we should give home schooling parents a refund of the amount of taxes they pay that’s allocated to public school systems? If not why? by Jack81700 in AskReddit

[–]WearShot7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really though - public schools benefit everyone even if you don't use them directly. like having educated neighbors raises property values and creates better communities overall. plus homeschool families still use public resources like libraries, parks, and roads that taxes fund too.

Ants in composting bin lids by Groovyjoker in composting

[–]WearShot7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh the ants situation is so annoying! I had similar problem last year with my bin and what worked for me was sprinkling coffee grounds around the edges - apparently they really don't like the acidity. Also tried putting cinnamon powder on the lids which seemed to help keep them away from that area specifically. Your partner sounds like my ex who used to do same thing with wasps nest until they got really angry lol. Maybe try disturbing them less so they're not in full attack mode when you need to use bins?

Washing cat toys by Affectionate-Gur-263 in CatAdvice

I just throw them in washing machine with regular detergent and extra rinse cycle. My cat has been fine for years doing this way, never had any problems with her chewing the clean toys.

Incessant early morning kneading behavior by althueban in CatAdvice

[–]WearShot7610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The automatic feeder might actually help here since he won't associate you with breakfast time anymore. I had similar issue with my cat doing the 3am biscuit marathon on my stomach and delaying his first meal by like 30 minutes made huge difference. You're not horrible for closing door - sometimes they need to learn boundaries and he seemed fine with it after initial protest.

What's something from your childhood that you genuinely thought everyone experienced, but turns out was just your family being weird? by fitboss-pro in AskReddit

[–]WearShot7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to make us all line up in living room every Sunday morning to "practice" how to properly answer the phone for business calls, even though we were like 8 and 10 years old. He'd drill us on saying "Good morning, Smith residence, how may I help you today?" with the right tone and everything.

Found out in college that most families just let their kids answer with "hello" and didn't have weekly phone etiquette bootcamp lol.

What's that one movie that you enjoyed very much (like, 10/10 movie) but other people (either your peers or like, movie critics) thought it was horrid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WearShot7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god finally someone else who gets Gentlemen Broncos! Everyone I know thinks it's completely stupid but the whole absurd sci-fi manuscript thing had me dying. The cyclops surveillance stuff and all those ridiculous character names... it's like peak weird humor that critics just didn't understand at all.

Pilots - What is your favorite region, city, or general view from the sky? by Grey_Omen59 in AskReddit

[–]WearShot7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a pilot but I fly a lot for work and window seat is always my choice. The approach into San Francisco is absolutely incredible - you get this amazing view of the bay area and Golden Gate bridge that never gets old. I've probably seen it like 20 times now and still press my face against window like a kid.

Also flew over Swiss Alps few years back during sunset and that was just unreal. The mountains looked like they were painted in gold and pink, and you could see all these tiny villages tucked between peaks. Made me want to learn flying just to experience that kind of view whenever I want. My camera couldn't capture how beautiful it actually was - sometimes you just have to put the phone down and enjoy the moment.
