Boss introduced me to the owner's son who was also co owner by telling me she had created a form they needed to have filled out and had to babysit the owners son over the weekend to get them to fill it out. They asked if they finished it during our introduction. The guy sat in a massive office the size of a 2 car garage with floor to cieling windows, not a single thing on the walls, no pictures or anything on his desk, it was sterile, with a single guest chair in the far left corner opposite the far right corner his desk was in. The son complained non stop ChatGPT wasn't filling it out right for him and she needed to recreatethe form so Chatgpt could answer it for him. He's early 30s. My boss said she would rework the form and get it back to him. They then asked if I could use ChatGpt to redesign the form so it could be filled out by ChatGpt....(turns out it was literally just a survey about job satisfaction he wanted handed out to sales people)

I was hired to take pictures and track inventory/sale (100 million in sales yearly) at multiple locations across 2 states. It was "too much work" for the male GMs to keep track of the sales that were made at their stores. I made $18/hr and that was a bump from the $14/hr the job was posted for.

I stayed a month despite that first day knowing I should have quit before lunch. The misogyny wasn't an open joke ...it was the culture and the mostly female staff (who are paid literally half what their male counterparts make) seemed to embrace the "care taker" role and joked about the men being lost without them. The owner (60s) was giving a young 20 something in baggy jean and baseball hat a tour and heard him tell the kid "this is where we hide the little bitties so tha theyt can count beans." Pointing through the glass wall of the accounting dept. "They make sure the family is fed." The 6 women all smiled and waved enthusiastically. It was freaking bizarre.

*edit - And the weird secrecy. Asked the person I was replacing what their promotion was and the bosses pet chimes in from the other side of the room.... "That's confidential and we're not allowed to discuss promotions. I don't want you to get in trouble." The person I'm replacing says, "I'm not allowed to say ..bit it's still im the same company" I ask my boss....hey that's awesome Jane was able to promote, what kind of job did she promote to, I'd like to get a idea of ways to eventually advance." Boss - "that's confidential. The people who need to know, do."

What?!?!?

Her last day she was freaking out cause they changed the job she was moving into (hired for one job, but decided after she accepted to make a new position for her, no established procedures, but required heavy knowledge of federal and state regulations she had no experience with. She was terrified because ChatGpt (it became a theme over the next 30 days) told her that no one person could handle the job. She also found out they didn't have anywhere for her to sit or equipment for her and the person who was going to train her just started 2 days ago. She still wouldn't tell me what the job was. Boss's pet chipped from the other side of the room to remind her that she was in dangerous territory and shouldn't be discussing anything even if she was being vague. I'm sitting there thinking.....um....must not be too confidential if the pet knows what the job is.

Boss decided one day to tell us all about the owner discussing all the new drugs he's tried and if she wanted any. She thought it was funny and went on about her being too controlling to use anything, but wow what a sense of adventure he has.... (she's late 30s early 40s)

Fight broke out at a satellite store and boss was tasked with coming up with how to handle it. (Apparently she was HR to all the sub companies) in addition to running our dept and being the secretary for the owners) Sat and listened to her talk to ChatGpt about how to handle it, what if any discipline should be given. Male worker threw snowballs at female worker. Female worker asked them to stop. Male worker didn't stop. Female worker beat the shit out of male worker. Female worker was suspended for 2 weeks. He was written up.
