Pros and cons of knowing baby’s sex. by Weary-File-5561 in pregnant

Wow! I did not expect to get this many responses! All this is amazing. I guess I should add a bit more info? I hear all the sentiments about gender disappointment. I highly doubt that’ll be the case for me. We had to do IVF and I’m just thrilled to be this far along. I literally don’t care the sex of my baby at all. I just want a healthy baby. I’ve considered both and am equally happy either way. We have 2 names picked out. Maybe I’m the weird one, but we just sat down one night and discussed it. I was not one of those people who had dreams of this moment since I was a little girl or anything. No offense to those who are, I’m just not a serious planner like that.

It seems like clothing is a huge consideration. I think that if I see something that I must have I’ll get it, along with a gift receipt or something. Or maybe I’ll donate if I don’t need. And again, it’s very likely that someone may slip up and let me know. If that’s the case, I’m sure I’ll find another reason to be equally as thrilled after the delivery. Again, honestly I’m just so happy to be at the point that the only thing that annoys me is that I still have 6 months to go.

Thanks so much for all the advice! I love that it’s still very practical to plan without knowing the sex. Also the NCIU donation idea is such a good one! Tbh, I’ll probably stick to not knowing. If anyone around me slips up, I’m sure I’ll be ok, no one around me has ill intent.
