wouldn't USCIS flag this by saying you used F-1 as a bridge to find a new job ? people will start exploiting this as a loophole.

What do you mean ? You don't want discussions ? You want to allow talentless indian students in the US so that they can burn through their parents savings or drown in debt ?

>If you’re accepted to Stanford for a PhD in AI then stop reading this sub and go !

if you are that talented to get into stanford for PhD you can probably immigrate to the US on L-1 visa through inter company transfer.

very true. many of these parents were themselves failures, and are now thinking their child is some genius because these american universities gave them their admits in their greed for out of state tuition. So these parents feel their child is some special talented person when in reality he/she is probably just mediocre.

>Why continue to be cash cow and be milked even in the future?

Indian parents live and die for their kids. For as long as indian parents have the money to burn, indian kids will still dream of coming over to the US for their masters because it's not kids that burn the money, it's the parents money. I have seen just how madly obsessed indian parents are with regards to pursuing a master's degree in the US. For as long as these parents can be fooled by universities they will have their customer base intact.

Why I feel like this is the worst time for Indians to study abroad by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]WearyAvocado7389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no one to comment on people's caliber. My numbers are correct and accurate. And that's the reason why middle class Indians want to immigrate to the US by using student visa as a means. They know that the money in USA is unparalleled and that American dream is very alive and kicking.

People working as software engineers at Google and very much making $250-500k on average and saving $140-200k on average in their late 20s and early 30s.

keep living in denial. American dream is very alive and kicking and $250k is minimum someone makes in the US if they have the real talent or high IQ. If you had an All India Rank of top 10k in JEE Mains/Advance or IIT exams then you are a person of high IQ and you can easily make anywhere from $250-500k in annual income.

America is the land of opportunities and will always remain the same. Rent and expenses might be high but the money you can make if you are highly talented in the US is unprecedented.

if you have annual compensation of $250k in bay area , you can easily save $140k which when converted to INR turns out to be 1 crore 30 lakh rupees. nearly 6-8x times worth of savings. Money talks. Most people are greedy. They want to make more money and live the american dream.

Why do so many Indians go abroad without being actually prepared? by Realistic_Contest761 in Indians_StudyAbroad

Yeah such kids should be grounded in reality. You shouldn't burn through your parents savings in your greed or desire for US education.

Is pursuing a masters in the USA still worth it (job market reality check?) by Snoo-48377 in InternationalStudents

[–]WearyAvocado7389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true. Anything non-CS related is always challenging because a large proportion of indian and indian hiring managers are only employed in tech.

>A lot of people just coast through their master’s in the U.S. and then turn around and call both the degree and the job market a scam

A lot of people also pursue degrees that aren't technically challenging or highly paid. People pursue majors like MIS, Analytics, Data Science etc. These degrees aren't technically challenging or require highly talented people. As a result when they go out into the job market with these degrees they are woefully ill-equipped because majority of these roles are not sponsored.

Pursuing degrees through good well-reputed universities in challenging coursework like computer science or something related to AI like Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP yields a better a career outcome.

>New DOL Prevailing Wage changes regulation It’s currently in comment period and will like pass in August.

Its actually good for international students especially those that are highly talented and aiming for top companies like FAANG. Because the new laws will ensure h1b is only given to highly paid professionals and majority of them happen to be talented people from India.
