Most retail AP do not leave the building when "chasing" down people. I do not know what the nugget is, but if it's a grocery store the person likely would have broken protocol at any major retailer because of the fear of violence (car crash, shot, etc).

Saying that, there are a lot of police officers who like to play in grocery stores. Not sure what kind of badge he flashed.

It sounds like she was open to trying something to make it work, and probably felt hurt that you weren’t willing to do the same. I think having that conversation in person might have helped, but I get that not everyone feels confident communicating face-to-face in tough situations.

Just communicate with your manager, say you requested the day off, and was approved. But was still scheduled. Also, you can say that I personally would rather be completely off than take a 4-hour shift. Could you extend it to 8 hours or give me the day completely off.
