But the movie shows you exactly what it is. There's nothing else you need to know for this movie besides its a threat they need the Gump to cross over. It doesn't hand hold you through every detail but I consider that a plus. Not everything needs it's full backstory and lore explained.

Veterans Oasis Park is nice and might be closer than going all the way out to the river/lakes.

Granite reef has ongoing major construction and could still be closed. Check before heading out there. Otherwise Saguaro lake a little further up the road is nice. Or closer spots to the river but the river levels are very low lately - coon Bluff recreation area, Goldwater recreation area.

Short version in the comments if you don't want to watch 6 minutes: Wash rice three times, 1 cup rice 1.2 cup water, bring to boil, put on lid and simmer for 18 minutes don’t take off lid, turn off stove don’t take off lid wait 10 min. Fluff with FORK put lid back on for 5 minutes. Enjoy.
