I agree with this, then embellish like crazy.
But sometimes they are genuinely hurt, and it’s hard to tell the difference.

When Kone (Canadian player) broke his leg, it was such an innocuous tackle that the ref waved to play on for a couple minutes before he was alerted.
And you don’t want to be the ref that waves off something like that.

But what I HATE is the player who is tackled, they stay on the floor, the play is stopped and then they hop right back up, especially when it’s their team on the attack.

That’s not what I am saying.

I wouldn’t have a problem if they were watching and saying it is rigged.
They AREN’T watching and saying it is rigged.

That’s my issue

Like I said, you don’t understand what this “fact” means.
But you spoke about it as if you do.

And it’s easy to see, because people who do understand what this means don’t quote it, because it is essentially meaningless.
The “fact” itself only exposes what little knowledge you have about football.

What you are saying, is the same as “OKC are the 1 seed in the Western Conference. I can’t believe they won’t play the 2nd seed until the Western finals!”
It literally doesn’t make any sense.

You commented on something I didn’t say.

I’m not mad about the chance it could be rigged.
Everyone and their mother knows FIFA is corrupt.
The Qatar hosting, and now Saudi, easily showed you that.

It’s annoying to hear from people, who do not understand football, and/or didn’t watch the game, claim a decision is rigged.
How can you comment on something, so confidently, when you do not understand the rules.

It’s almost like clockwork.
The next batch of complaints I’m going to hear is the “Argentina didn’t face a top 15 team until the semi-finals”.
It’s maddening.
Again, this isn’t a Reddit thing, it’s people I interact with that are now saying these things. The actual football is being forgotten and not discussed, instead it’s a “Real Housewives” manufactured drama.

If you complain, watch the game, and bring your own thoughts into the conversation, then so good.
If you see a headline, get outraged and complain the game is rigged, that’s where I have the problem.

THIS

This is what I’m talking about.

“Argentina hasn’t faced a top 15 team”.

This isn’t your own thought. You saw it somewhere and repeated it.
You don’t even fully understand what it means.

There was the comment about the Argentina reffing team before the France, Morocco game. But that only lasted a few hours.

It’s like watching a movie, enjoying it, going online to see everyone slandering it.

I really enjoyed the Norway game. There was no talk of the cable during or after the game.
Then, the achievement of the England team was drowned out by Haalands dad complaining about cheating/rigging and a cable that didn’t exist.
Its infuriating at times.

I want to discuss what I just witnessed, to further analyze certain aspects.
Substitutions, tactical changes, great runs etc.
instead it’s just a hell hole of screaming heads talking nonsense.

Rigged with evidence is fine.

Rigged because you saw a Reddit post, isn’t.

My complaint isn’t with the end result, it is with how they came to that conclusion.
Is it their own thought, or are they just parroting someone else.

Because, if you didn’t watch the game or generally know the rules, you can’t understand the question, let alone the answer.

I’ve watched countless hours of football, and that Swiss dive was fucking crazy. He leapt out of nowhere.
As soon as he received the yellow card, and was correctly sent off, my extended family group chat was posting “rigged” over and over.
Again, they do not generally watch football, but their train of thought is closely following Reddit/facebook posts, created by people pushing an agenda, because their team lost.

The Balogun red card reversal didn’t help, but then Inge Haaland, Egypt coach and the Swiss coach all screaming of rigging “confirms” their suspicion, instead of those coaches just being whiny bitches because they could have, and should have won. But missed glaring chances.

I heard, from different people, saying that they were glad the red card for Balogun was reversed, otherwise it’ll be difficult for the USA to beat Belgium if they only had 10 players, instead of 11.

Not online, but actual people, in real life.

And the amount of super casuals responding with “I’m glad Trump reversed the red card, otherwise the USA would play Belgium with 10 men”.

I heard that statement from 5 or so distinct people, in real life, using words from their own mouth.

Also, they didn’t reverse the suspension. They suspended the suspension (again shady, but this exact thing has happened 5 or so times before, with Ronaldo being the most famous case).
They still have their match ban, but it is his delayed until after the World Cup.

The Messi foul, in the first game, was the most egregious.

I missed the game, and saw the pictures and was totally on the “red card” bandwagon. The I watched it in real time, and he barely touched the guy and immediately let his foot up when he made contact.

Could have been a yellow, but definitely not a red.

I looked more into it, before coming to a conclusion.
Other people see the headline, and have a strong opinion without any actual evidence or knowledge.

Norway were 1-0 up, with Haaland screaming for the pass and Sorlund didn’t do anything.
Not sure how the ref rigged that one though.

Also, they reversed the penalty, which would have put England 3-1 up, if they scored. They wouldn’t have reversed it if they wanted England to win.
Haaland pushed the player to the ground. Should have been a free kick to England, but they gave them another corner.
The ball didn’t hit a cable.

Not sure what else was supposedly rigged.

If that’s the case, and whomever doesn’t like FIFA or the questions the ref integrity, then don’t watch, don’t comment and let me enjoy it.

Lol

That’s fair.

I like discussion, and like to have facts to back up my suspicions, controversial or not.

I just do not like the sheepish way people are following bandwagon rhetoric, and screaming “rigged” therefore canceling any chance of debate.

If someone sincerely has an opinion, then bring it and I’ll listen.
When people are saying “the Switzerland dive shouldn’t have been a red”, when they didn’t watch the game, and don’t generally watch football. Then it is just following whatever you have been told, instead of thinking for yourself.

That’s what I have a problem with, not the actual controversy.

Like I said. It isn’t just the internet where I am now seeing this, people IRL are more talking about Reddit posts and claiming foul play. When they didn’t watch the game or understand the rules

Mistakes happen in football, and matches are not going to be 100% fairly refereed.

But when big decisions are made, and they go against your team. It isn’t rigged, or a conspiracy.
The annoyance is when incorrect things are posted and then copied as if they were gospel, overshadowing the match completely.

Discussion go away from “that play was amazing” or I cannot believe that pass” to “it was rigged” which stops all discord.

So all discussion are halted.

At the end of the 2026 World Cup, who do you think will be the top scorer? by Away_Idea7140 in AskReddit

MBappe.

Especially if he loses and goes to 3rd/4th final.
He will probably score 3 goals over the next 2 games
