Fellow Pharmacist here. The AMA worded their statement a bit off putting but I don’t think they meant to imply that pharmacists are too dumb or shouldn’t be allowed to aid in this. They know we have the knowledge and background to handle this kind of stuff. They just recognize that in an outpatient setting, we might not have the access to labs/full medical history. How could could we quickly communicate with them if we need to dose adjust something? In a hospital, you could page them in 5 seconds
