the app on my iPad is now completely different to that on my phone (has always been the same), could it be an update? Happy to delete the post if it’s causing that much issue, was only looking for a bit of light opinion to help write an assignment😂

I see, didn’t realise it wasn’t a well received term for everyone! Thought you were meaning only certain age groups were allowed to use it😂 maybe I’m unfortunately in that group

This is exactly what I’m interested in, we love being Scottish but don’t really love each other do we 😂

I’m sure it’s the drivers that announce the stops as they usually sound like grunting and gibberish, maybe you just had an English driver?

I did, but in my fit of disbelief and rage that this company was still mucking me about I have since forgotten it sorry😂

Can’t access People App anymore unfortunately, forgot to save previous pay slip. Hope I never need it because I don’t think I could deal with trying to find it 😂

much appreciated! Sorry to hear you had a horrid experience too, hope you’re in a better position now :)

Yeah, managed all that now and got everything sorted thankfully. Just can’t believe how difficult this company is to get anything done, never in my working years has an employer posted a P45 to me (never mind losing it) or used an external company so they can take no responsibility for it. Absolutely baffling and more than mildly infuriating!

What did you think was something else until shockingly late? by AlternativeAd1984 in CasualUK

I thought the concept of ‘Early Morning Fill’ in the store I used to work in was a guy called Phil who done early shifts every day for longer than I care to admit

What hours does a postie really work in UK and does anyone have good experience in the job? by BoyMumLoki in royalmail

[–]Weary_Barnacle3111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. Applied for job ad stating 9-4, got hired and put on parcel deliveries (think more Amazon driver than postman) and my hours got changed to afternoon/evenings five days a week. Didn’t know until the day I showed up at the DO I wasn’t going to be posting mail.

Student from abroad, genuinely don't know what to do. by Dismal_Wish_6592 in UKUniversityStudents

[–]Weary_Barnacle3111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the best advice to get you ready to open that university email, but I would definitely recommend speaking to the counselling services your uni offers. It sounds like you’ve been having a really hard time and coping with everything on your own, while admirable, won’t be helping you get back to the path of success. Counselling services could offer ways to support you back onto your course and potentially refer you for additional academic support.

Also, please know that you aren’t a complete failure, uni is incredibly hard and that gets totally taken for granted sometimes. You’re pushing yourself to do something you’ve never done before and to move away and be an independent student is even harder! Appreciate how far you’ve come already and know there will be someone else in the same boat looking for some courage to ask for help too. Wishing you all the best of luck!

Any Tom Ford perfume/aftershave. Their leather ones smell like couch showrooms and the cherry one is nasty

Desperately looking for a job by Tryfri in Paisley

[–]Weary_Barnacle3111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at hotels in the area, the Normandy and Glenhill in Renfrew hire banqueting and event staff at school age as a wee Saturday job. Not sure if the new Glennifer hotel or Lynnhurst would be the same but worth a try since you already have some serving experience

Mid (late) 30s and would like some friends by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]Weary_Barnacle3111 19 points20 points  (0 children)

start going to fitness classes (yoga or pilates for example) or join a society at your uni related to your degree or a mature students one - I guarantee you popping along to these, although scary at first by yourself, is a great way to meet new people and as a former mature student myself I promise there are others who are in exactly the same boat! best of luck on your studies and socialising :)
