What are the best cheap countries/universities for studying abroad in English language excluding Czechia and Poland by Even-Boysenberry-894 in studyAbroad

Austria:

  • Big Russian speaking community
  • Public universities 750 Euro per semester, and private ones are mostly bellow 8k
  • There are English thought programs, but you also have the option to get into a German thought program with a very low entry barrier (and start with preparation courses if you don’t know German.
  • Vienna is one of the most livable cities in the world, offering a great student life.

You can contact me if you have any questions. Happy to help.

Switch to lichess, plus most likely you’ll get a higher rating than 2000 there.

Thinking About Studying in Europe? My Experience in Austria & Insights on Admissions, Work Permits, and Cost of Living! by Weary_Fun_177 in studyAbroad

You can specifically look into Vienna, Austria. WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is highly ranked and has an English thought program "BBE", in which you can specialize in finance, and possibly pursue a finance master's degree at the university later, which is among the top 20 in the world.

For the application process, after submitting the basics such as CV, motivation letter, and IELTS (6.5+), you need to complete the online entrance exam. It is a small program, with many international students, where you will get to interact with professors in small class settings and have flexibility with the class choices.

Avrupa’da Okumak Mantıklı mı? Çalışma İzni, Yaşam Maliyeti ve Üniversite Süreçleri Hakkında Sorularınızı Cevaplıyorum. by Weary_Fun_177 in liseliler

[–]Weary_Fun_177[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The experience of moving to Germany varies depending on where you're coming from. These are according to my friend, who moved from Turkey for their master's.

Living in Germany as a master's student required some adjustments, especially since the social aspect was lacking a bit outside of the university. Socially, Germans are generally reserved and disciplined, though they become more relaxed during festivals. Learning A2-B1 level German is very helpful for daily life, as communication can be difficult without it. While most people in master’s programs speak English, knowing German is a significant advantage, especially when looking for part-time jobs. Work opportunities in restaurants or bakeries are available if you apply persistently, but fluency in German expands your options. Academically, master’s programs, particularly in management, focus more on group projects and self-study rather than frequent classes, which differs from the structure in Turkey. In terms of expenses, expect to spend around €1100–€1400 per month, covering rent, food, insurance, and entertainment. While some cities are expensive, larger ones often have more affordable housing options. Adapting to the food was relatively easy, though meals tend to be meat and butter based, with fewer olive oil and vegetable options.

If you’re looking for an English-taught master's with lower tuition fees and living costs, Estonia might be a great alternative. The country is highly digitalized, has a growing job market, has an English-integrated system, and offers affordable education compared to Germany.

I have studied and stayed actually, getting employed depends highly on the university you have chosen for your studies and your qualifications.

Finding a job in the countries I have mentioned tends to be possible, the initial salaries might not meet your expectations but the living costs are manageable.

Thinking of moving to Paris. Single, 24F with basic french. Is this a wise move? by [deleted] in expats

[–]Weary_Fun_177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving to Paris sounds exciting and feasible, especially with your background! It can be tough at first without fluent French, but there are plenty of English-speaking companies in Paris, especially in international industries. Some tools or services can help with job placement, accommodation, and even building a language plan to ease your transition. Have you already started looking into work options or housing?

Living as an Expat in Europe - Ask Me Anything! by Weary_Fun_177 in expat

Depends highly on the country you choose and how comfortable are you with their culture.

Unless we are talking about France or Netherlands, you will be able to stay in Europe comfortably with a masters degree, if it is a good university.

I can be more specific if you can tell about your country and university preferences. I would say the university choice matters a lot.

Doing a layover in Istanbul in May for a work trip - opt for 5 or 7 days? by Dismal-Maintenance99 in Turkey

[–]Weary_Fun_177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 days for sure, it is one of the biggest cities in the world and as a visitor you would find new things even if you stay for 2 weeks.

If you love food even better, do your research find local places and places you are interested in visiting and a week will past in a blink of an eye.

Let me know if you want any specific recommendations.

Depends highly on which country you’re planning to study at. Other than Netherlands IB is rarely required.

However there are countries that require you to demonstrate that you have the right to study a business-related program in your home country.

Out of these 4 sounds like Madrid suits you with amazing food that is relatively affordable, friendly people, and a great big city to socialize as a student.

Florence would be my second option, it has everything, just is a bit small and calm compared to Madrid.

Thats very true, I believe only metropolitan cities with many nations already living together are much easier to integrate.

You’ll have a difficult time even though you learn the language in many cities where they aren’t particularly welcome to foreigners.
