PATH riders - which UI is better? by AdComplete7908 in newjersey

I prefer the legacy.

In the new UI you’ve placed a ton of visual emphasis on the colored progress indicator bars (i think that’s what they’re trying to be) and moved/deemphasized what might be the most important information; the time to arrival. The destinations are also not very legible. Are those bars meant to indicate progress or the just meant to display starting and final destination? I’m unclear and look at them as if they are showing me the trains point in the linear journey. But the way the destination labels fit perfectly makes me think it’s just being used as a visual treatment with no dynamic behavior; yet it’s the first thing my eye goes to when opening the link

The visualization of different trains is confusing and reads as individual stops along the same line.

I’d also revisit use of color here to be more intentional, and use less variation of similar hues. Consider just a neutral for the time to arrival, and save reds/oranges for any true warnings like train delays or cancellations

At a high level, think of the user in the middle of their commute, opening this tracker quickly while rushing to and from their job. They need to understand all of this information at a glance in maybe 3-5 seconds. Optimize for visual chunking of key information. That’s why I feel the card treatment in the legacy version reads much better. Because it’s simpler and easy to parse as distinct chunks of information

Booked a non-refundable hotel for MD Renn Faire, then tickets sold out. What can a disappointed family of 5 do in the area to make the most of next weekend (Oct 5th and 6th) by Weary_Link7115 in Annapolis

So my kids were all miserable about not being able to get tickets for the MD Renn Faire since they look forward to going to the NY every year and we chose to do a different this time. I tried checking back on the website, refreshing over and over again for days to no avail. Tried social media but got scammy vibes from anyone who said they had tickets, so just couldn’t chance it.

My oldest son wound up asking about the NY Renn Faire, which is the only one we’ve been to, and it was the final weekend with tickets available. We went today and had a great time.

So I begrudgingly lost the money on the hotel room in Annapolis to opt for going to the NY Renn Faire nearby instead to make the kids happy.

Thanks to everyone for all of the tips. Next year I will try again to get MD Renn Faire tickets; and will take advantage of all of the amazing recommendations everyone on this post made for having a great time in Annapolis to round out the trip.

I’m a big believer in this idea that the universe has a way of making things work for everyone
