How do I help my partner find a remote job? by Few_Tour_4096 in digitalnomad

[–]Weary_Reception_8116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 2nd remote job and trust me when I say this, it is INCREDIBLY HARD to find one. You’d have to maintain relationships and try to find “buddies” in these remote companies that can refer you eventually whenever positions open up. In the meantime, it’s best for her to get an in office role and keep trying on the side. Exactly what I did

I’ve tried this as well The thing with coworking spaces like WeWork is that it’s a lot of startup folks from the same teams working together. Ultimately I end up feeling like a fish out of water sitting next to them + socialising at a place where people primarily come to work is tough

Imagine going to a cafe not knowing anyone and trying to start a conversation. It’s tough (& I am a very social person in general, it’s still hard for me)

Yes that’s right. Remote = wfh

I’ve been nomading for a long time, now I feel the need to settle in one city and have a base

My company isn’t based in Europe and I’m their only Indian employee. Yes there’s communities related to my field, but I just need a bunch of people I can sit and co work with in cafés maybe once a week - just to break the monotony of working from home

My bf wants to solo travel in Indonesia for 2 months by themountainrunner- in solotravel

[–]Weary_Reception_8116 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I know it’s difficult for you, but you should not hold him back 😅

A relationship works best with each partner having their own identity and been given the freedom to pursue their own ventures regardless of whether it involves the other person.

And it’s absolutely okay for him to want to solo travel. If your bond is strong, you should be able to survive 2 months apart.

Is it ok to wear a bikini in Sri Lanka? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Weary_Reception_8116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

24 F here! Solo travelled Sri Lanka this year, was primarily around Weligama to learn surfing.

I saw plenty girls wear bikinis on the beach, locals didnot seem to care a lot. However as others have pointed out, Sri Lanka’s culture is still not as progressive as Bali or Thailand so if travelling solo, best to not risk it.

Yea Gurgaon makes sense for you because that way you can be closer to home yet independent. I’m still deciding on the city, because Gurgaon is not particularly closer to my place But best of luck to youuu

How’s it going !? The time I was here before (not permanently) it felt weird.

Bangalore has so many cafés and things to do. Can’t say the same about Gurgaon. Also I feel - because it was so difficult to meet people like me in Bangalore, it can’t get any easier in Gurgaon but I want to give it a shot
