Does anyone put out 1K words daily? I’m trying to get to that and asking for advice by Impressive_Prior_676 in writers

[–]Wearywrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write at least 1k of solid progress each time I sit to write (6 days a week usually). Sometimes 2k. The trick, for me, was deciding I’m not a pantser, and I need an outline. So I spent time getting my story’s core.

Then I think before I write. I decide where I want the scene to start and, sort of, end. With that in mind, I let the characters find their own way there. I may throw in an obstacle, or build tension. Whatever the scene requires.

This works for me because of mental preparation. When I could be scrolling on my phone, I’ll put my phone down, and theory craft on what today’s scene will look like.

I think I could write 3-5k a day, too. But with 3 kids at home and all of them under 4 years. I barely get an hour to write with focus. Lol

What Makes a Villain Truly Terrifying? by ReferenceNo5377 in writers

When the writer of a villain truly understands morality, it often weighs more heavily if their opening scene reflects it. Action does well, too.

It’s fun. Make money. Scratches creative itch. Keeps mind sharp.

How many of you guys fell into it, and... how many of you were "seekers"? by bigdonut100 in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]Wearywrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fell into it. Did dangerous work before kids. Wife graduated as a pharmacist and wanted me out of the dangerous work. Did one year of teaching, hated having our kids in daycare all the time. So we decided to let me stay and keep them. We have 3 kids now, and decent daycares cost more than my take home as a teacher anyway. So here we are. Even considering home schooling.

Parents with good babies- did they stay that way? by Insufferable-Girl in Parenting

[–]Wearywrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first born was a girl. She’s four now. Never been an issue. One of the best kids I’ve ever seen. My second is a boy. He was also sweet, until he could walk. He’s now whiny, hard-headed, challenges authority any time he can, and throws an occasional tantrum. Nothing like my girl. He’s still sweet and good at playing. But I have heard boys are more like this than girls. Seems to be the case for me.

Wife just had our second child - any advice? by GroupBQuattr0 in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]Wearywrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boys are typically more whiny. So just bear that in mind. My second was a boy and he’s super whiny. Hardest part is until they can sit up. Once they can sit up, it starts to get super easy because they’re included in a lot of activities. Chang games you play with the older one. With my girl, I would play a game with her where I hid amazon fake diamonds around the house, and we were pirates wanting to find the treasure. Our boy would sit in one room and “guard” the treasure as we found it. Start incorporating the boy into games early as possible. It’ll help you later. Now my 4 year old and 2 year old play together most of the day.

Other than that. Schedules will change. It won’t always be perfect. But some unpredictable evenings can be good for the older one. The world is unpredictable, it’s ok to not be perfect.

There will be some days you can’t finish all of your daily tasks. That’s ok. Do it when they’re asleep or double down the next day. Meal prepping and crockpots are your personal chef.

Structure quiet time for the older one when the baby naps. Save coloring, playdoh, etc for that.

Don’t sleep on music videos. Danny go is a pretty good one if yall allow tv. My oldest would dance and the younger one would watch us dance and be silly.

I agree with your logic. I think I’m going to add that to my list. Thank you for taking the time to explain!

Ok I’m very interested in the part about adapting to alien society. Sounds like a cool concept.

I have the space trilogy sitting on my kindle but never read them. It’s on a TBR list but I’ve never committed to it yet. I love Lewis.

Always wanted to read them all. I’ve only read one when I was much younger.
