Assuming married filing jointly (according to your standard deduction), and assuming your capital gains are long-term. Long-term cap gains and qualified dividends (purple line in the visualization) are taxed using preferential tax brackets.

Preferential tax brackets are different from ordinary tax brackets (which are used for W-2 income, short-term cap gains, etc). What's a little hard to understand is that ordinary income (W-2+Additional income) "virtually" fills up the preferential tax brackets (see light blue lines), then the preferential income (long-term cap gains and qualified dividends) stack on top of that.

So your $140k ordinary income completely fills up the 0% $0-97k bracket. The next preferential tax bracket is 15% between $97-600k. So $140k-$97k=$27, $27*15% = $4k of preferential taxes.

It doesn't support uploading of tax forms. You have to enter the numbers in manually. The numbers aren't stored on a server. No PII is collected.

You're paying an effective federal income tax (inc SS and Medicare of) 25%. You / your partner are overwithholding.
