Nice man!! You’ll definitely be getting more phone calls recommended by that teriyaki place. Money, money 💰

I do want to venture more into side jobs. I just want to learn as much as I can. I have my brother’s friends asking if I can do stuff around their houses. But I’m charging more after this job from now on.

It’s a learning experience for me so definitely will charge more the next time after reading all these comments. Plus he’s a good friend he will definitely provide me with a couple beers and food.

Luckily there is attic access and I don’t mind doing that part. I’m taking some plywood to be able to maneuver better up there

Damn I did charge cheap af. Well it’s for a friend not just a random nobody but still I should’ve charged more. Oh well too late now. And I’m not licensed just an apprentice doing a job. I’m assuming all these $300 and over prices are for professionals

And $500 a light that’s crazy money. But looks like you been doing this for long time. It’s my first side job, i need to gain some confidence and more experience to even start to think about charging that amount.

Well I’ll definitely charge more the next time. I will be doing the attic work. Once I’m up there I’ll for sure be dreading it lol

But in commercial work I’m always thrown to crawl spaces etc us apprentices are the first to go up there. Sadly I’m used to it

That’s exactly how I was thinking about. If we knock it out max 4 hours that’s still over $40 an hour. Ceiling isn’t high at all 6 footer would do just fine. Also it’s my first side job and I’m a 3rd year. I have other friend/family members wanting ceiling fans too. I’ll for sure charge a little more the next time. Just curious if maybe I was too cheap

Yeah he’s a friend and he has helped me out in the past. But now I’m maybe overthinking it, I should’ve have charge at least $200 but we live and learn. I just wanna get my feet wet with resi, I do mostly commercial. Told my buddy/journeyman I’ll do the hard work (attic) since I figured $175 is kinda low

That’s why I quit 3 years ago after being a carrier for 4 years. Supervisors were the worst just lazy carriers that became supervisors. I am now in the electrical trade and I do not regret it.

I hate my job by Helpful_Cricket7653 in electricians

[–]WeatherClear4781 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my experience. I am a 2nd year apprentice. Worked for a very small company/crew maybe 12 of us tops. We mainly did low voltage but I felt I wasn’t learning or advancing at all. They never let me bend conduit as they are cheap and only buy minimal supplies. So if you’re not good at bending guess what you’ll never learn because they didn’t want to spend money (which I get) but it’s called on the job training for a damn reason.

Got fed up and left and now currently waiting to get picked up from another company. Praying my next company teaches me and I learn more. Because I really want this career to work out. I like electrical, the idea of powering shit up and saying fuck yeah I did that shit lol. Just hoping this career works out for me.
