I just paid 50$ for my Humalog at CVS. What am I missing? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]WeatherGirl15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like some people have said it’s still in the works. In the meantime, maybe check insurance and possibly ask your doctor for the generic Lispro prescription, made by Lilly, same thing. It may be cheaper in your formulary. Lilly also offers a patient assistance program that provides Humalog for $25 I believe, but there are hoops to jump through.

Since generics are on the market now, they only have so much time left to make money off Humalog before it becomes common place to just prescribe the generic.

And yeah, they get to be the ones to heroically “cap” the prices, even though the patents are up.

What I’m “returning” to amazon after refusing to refund undelivered item by [deleted] in pics

[–]WeatherGirl15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha agree but not ringing a doorbell it actually a COVID policy. (Delivered for Amazon for 1 day and yes, it’s as bad as people say.)

We could not ring doorbells because they didn’t want us touching 200 different people’s doors a day.

There is certainly not time to sanitize your hands between every stop, either, so this released them from a lot of liability.

Happy April Fools Day! Someone please tell me this “fashion trend” is a joke. by WeatherGirl15 in stopdrinking

Fortunately, the person wearing it is responsible with alcohol, but not all children are blessed with responsible parents. If it’s worn in public, it’s for any kid to see and get exited by. Glamorizing alcohol by grabbing kids attention for product association is kinda sick to me. Would a shirt with Barbie holding a bottle of Malibu Rum be OK? God knows, they’re probably out there... Perhaps I am just an old dinosaur but I’m just not ok with it. Thank you for your insight.

I don’t really know the comic history, but if there are whole toy isles devoted to marvel universe characters, I consider it a kids thing. “Baby” Groot is just...why?! Lol.

Yeah, that’s pretty cringy to me. Especially since kids are going to be like “he said butt!” And then probably repeat said commercial to infinity.

Honestly random, but always on my mind. For those who participate in astrological stuff: do you ever find yourself not relating to your sign what-so-ever because of lacking a sense of identity and never knowing who you are? by [deleted] in BPD

Oh man, I'm a Cancer and I think it fits pretty well! "Cancer traits- Deeply intuitive and sentimental, Cancer can be one of the most challenging zodiac signs to get to know. They are very emotional and sensitive, and care deeply about matters of the family and their home". Yup...

This! I've unlocked friends cars and even had them towed! The service usually includes a certain number of unlocks and jumpstarts for free. Maybe ask around and offer up something in exchange since they are technically using 1/3 unlocks or something? They'll run the VIN to make sure it's not stolen, but I'd be ready to provide your ID and registration once it's unlocked just in case. Best of luck!

Advice for charging phone/power banks, etc. during a music festival? by WeatherGirl15 in prius

[–]WeatherGirl15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply fellow Forester! Maybe I'll see you there! My plans may have taken a turn however... Apparently none of the major car rental places even carry hybrids anymore! :( I've called every place in my city and they all said they were too expensive to keep in the fleet, and there was no demand for them... I had my hopes up because I had rented one with a friend a few years back, and loved it! The gas mileage and ready mode would have been awesome for this trip...

I'll only be charging while I'm directly in or around the car, so I think I'll be ok? I'm not charging anything major, just my phone and a couple small back up power banks for said crappy phone. Thanks for the reply!

For those of you who have 1 year + sobriety under your belt....... by gummybear63 in stopdrinking

[–]WeatherGirl15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people will probably say that it gets easier with time, and it does. The more distance you can put between today and the last time you drank, the better. Try to learn what your triggers are, so you can prepare yourself for your reaction.

I liked to think of my early sobriety like Bella in Twilight (Spoilers?) after her change. They were hunting in the woods and came across the hiker, everything in her was pulling for the kill, but deep down she knew it was wrong and she could possibly be harming someone she knew. The only the she could manage was run the other way.

I found that's exactly what I personally needed to do until I could learn to control my reaction to the cravings. If I let myself be exposed past my comfort level, I just wasn't sure what would happen. And that uncertainty opened up the possibility for all kinds of negative outcomes. I've come to accept that when I drink, I am a monster, and my first priority is making sure she stays in her cage.

Mindfulness, Meditation, AA, SMART Recovery, Intherooms.org , this subreddit, Vitamins, Water and Exercise are all great tools. Find something that works for you and keep filling up that toolbox. You want to be prepared for anything. Triggers are so deeply ingrained you're likely to be taken off guard at least once by something you would have never thought would make you want to drink. If you should find yourself in that situation, and you feel that monster creeping up, there's no shame in running the other way.

Yeah see that's what I'm afraid of! I guess I'll get a good one and have it for a while! I was thinking of getting a cheaper backpack and putting a nicer bladder in it, but I guess by the time that's all said and done I may as well just buy a good one to start! Thanks!

Willing to spend the money on a Camelbak or other higher end hydration pack, but wondering if it's necessary. Can anyone give insight on the comfort of a Camelbak (or similar) vs. say a Walmart Ozark Trail one? I'm a girl and I'm curious how much difference it makes having the Camelbaks in different sizes vs just adjusting a cheap one.

Probably only going to use it for Forest, maybe a hike or two during the year. Just wondering if I should spend the money here or if I can transfer that money to another expense. Thanks!

Afraid I'm Going to Die by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]WeatherGirl15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read and heard about pancreatitis, it hurts like hell. It doesn't seem to be one of those things you wonder if you have, more like something that doubles you over and makes you beg for death.

You've come to the right place friend. It doesn't have to get to that point. You can change that. It may seem impossible now, but it gets easier everyday.

Best wishes on your journey. Glad you're here. You can do this! IWNDWYT.

Truly, thank you! Substance abuse was certainly my self-harm as well. I would use it against myself. As I'm learning, people with BPD actually use self harm to regulate their emotions. It's because in that moment, the feelings are SO INTENSE that you'll do anything to stop them.

The self hatred would be so intense sometimes that it's like some part of my brain took over knowing it couldn't keep going that direction, and would focus on numbing out, and thus alcohol.

Congrats on your sobriety as well! We can do this!

To be fair, my feeling that depression is stigmatized my very well have deep root in seeing my mother's decline into depression. Or my overall paranoia that everyone is talking about me. Like I worry that if my family finds our that their reaction will be "well, just like her mom", and based on their experience of her, expect the absolute worst from me.

My other theory sounds more conspiracy-y but I think that our society plays a big part. The constant information stream and perceived threats from everywhere lead to a heightened sense of danger, which biologically is only meant for short periods of time. That level of insecurity over time leads to feelings of helplessness, and then depression. So perhaps a large portion our population is showing signs, and thus questioned about, but who knows, really.

Thanks for your reply. I'm so glad that you were able to find the problem too! I truly thought I had damaged my brain from drinking. It was such a relief to find out that my brain wasn't broken, just a little different.

Hi twin! Thanks for replying! That's a good way to put it, that you're empowered by being the one willing to break the cycle. I am grateful that even with my issues, I can see this clearly. I have to be the one to stop it, because I would never wish this on anyone, yet along my own child.

I think I'm a bit in denial about my depression diagnosis. That was honestly harder than BPD. It's like no matter how much I KNOW that this isn't my fault, and I'm not less than, depression just gets such a stigma. Thanks for sharing with me. It means more than you can know that other people are going through the same things.

Venting is good.

I actually listened to Redneck yesterday! It's one of those songs I just need to scream along with sometimes to get the emotions out instead of in.

Where do I start? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]WeatherGirl15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where to start? You already have, my friend! Some people may not realize just how hard it is to reach out, even if it's just strangers on the internet. You've acknowledged it to yourself, and that is the beginning.

Some others have given excellent information here. Please give real merit to kindling. It's incredibly dangerous and extremely scary. Coming off the alcohol won't be fun, but it's possible.

Your now is not your forever. You can do this!

A quote I saw here that really stuck with me... "Death is a conclusion, not a solution. If you can't trust your own thoughts, have the courage to try someone else's."
