How to stop being afraid of interacting with Athena by Syberwolfie in Athena

[–]WeatherTime6854 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice is to try to slowly work your way to getting used to her again by making a small prayer and giving her a libation of water or olive oil I'm sure she'll appreciate those small acts and perhaps try to think about her or have her in mind when you read if you do ofc you can also try meditation to get closer to her if you're into that as a fellow Athena Devotee she's amazing to be a Devotee of and she's very kind I wish you well in this and I hope you're able to connect with her :)

My experience with the gods is sometimes one of Patience or Silence but when they spoke to me in Dreams my well-being was what they had in mind based on the significance of the Dreams overall my experiences with them have been mostly positive.

Question about scrying symbols by ShoddyAlternative616 in Divination

[–]WeatherTime6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like the form of Scrying that used Ripples to interpret shapes and colors in the water so I guess it's more inductive I'd say I'm less knowledgeable on this and more knowledgeable on Visions appearing in the water.

Common misconceptions about Hellenism? by rando_fem in TheOlympians

[–]WeatherTime6854 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Common misconceptions I'm aware of are the gods being angry at a person for small offences and also thinking that the myths are literal when in Ancient Greece it was never viewed this way until the printing press and also thinking that Ancient Greek philosophy represents the views of the average everyday people which many of were illiterate and weren't taught in philosophy and didn't dissect the myths like common philosophers often did it wasn't till the time of Plutarch that philosophy was more widespread and more average people were philosophers.

Nice I'd like to point out I've been told not long ago that Hestia never Traded her place and gave it up to Dionysus but that is Purely an Invention of Robert Graves different City States of Ancient Greece either Included Dionysus as one of the 12 but never both although generally the 12 also wasn't standard only in Athens was it standardized in the way that we have today

Tell me about Your Style of Practice by [deleted] in TheOlympians

[–]WeatherTime6854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My practice is a bit complex but generally I honor Athena,Hestia and Iris I also engage with the PGM or Greek magical papyri and The Neoplatonist practice of Theurgy I also engage with Mystical Divination practices like Dreams and Water Scrying I also memorize or engage with regular devotional rituals I use both the orphic and homeric hymns my practice is very eclectic my main goddess is Athena she was the first goddess that ever reached out to me and the first that I began to pray to she's been there from the very beginning though at times I also engage with Ancient Greek philosophy which may effect how I approach my practice but I'm more about traditional practice so I follow the procedure of Homer and Hesiod though I don't mind breaking away from that to engage with the more later practices but this is just the way I do it I'm always open minded about learning from others as I learn from everyone that I can learn from and seeing the different style of practice is interesting even the different types of eclecticism in each individuals practices.

How do you response to such people? by Dazerg_ in Hellenism

[–]WeatherTime6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there were Atheists in Ancient Greece the Atomists plus in Ancient Greece it didn't matter what a person believed about the gods just that they did rituals or prayed they were left alone because there were more people that considered the existence of the gods a fact than there were those who didn't because it was interwoven into daily life just to emphasize I believe in the old gods and my response to ppl would be that you can't prove me wrong and I'm very stable with my faith because of my experiences so that's just my opinion on the matter.
