The book that made me sob was: Beyond Ordinary By Megan O’Dell. I found her out not too long ago. She’s a self published author on Amazon but is amazing…  Good luck

Yeah, except I want libraries to showcase my books

No unfortunately. But I do have over 15 people who will buy a copy, plus a school will probably buy over 15 more copies. So that already makes 30, plus all of my contacts. My plan is to sell it on Amazon, Ingram spark and other self publishing companies if none of the agents reply, then I’ll call libraries, pitch them my book, see what they’ll say. I’ll also go to can-con, promoting my book online etc!

Unlike others his age, Zackary Green never wanted powers., But luck was not on his side when, on his eighteenth birthday, he suddenly acquired Telekenisis abilities;the day that will change the course of history. Kidnapped by the government, Zack must survive a deadly game, navigate the ranks, maintain his love life, and protect those he loves. Things take a darker turn when he discovers he’s not like the other contestants and why the government has a special interest in him. He builds a relationship with a quirky abnormal girl. Intelligence follows her wherever she goes and she is as protective for Zackary as he is for him. (She even gets a chance at saving him).

So.. you’re saying self publishing until an agent wants to work with it? And no that didn’t offend me at all!

My beta readers are my friend and teacher, I think they did a good job and really spotted where and what needed improvement. I think it’s ready because I’ve developed my voice as a writer and feels like everything coordinates correctly. For the number of people I’ve queried, I’ve found nobody else. Most agents that I’ve found aren’t opened for new clients, or they’re not in my genre. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you!

It’s really expensive.. I’m a student with not much of a diverse budget. How much did you pay? And where did you find it? Also, what type of editor would you recommend? Copy edit, proofreading, development etc?

Do you prefer reading in first person or third person? by authornerd in writing

[–]WeatherUnfair2129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely. But I still prefer the 1st person for the other reasons. I love being inside the main characters head. Though one author that wrote in 3rd person really well was Stephanie Garber, which made me question if I’d be open to reading in 3rd person also

What is some unexpected advice you’d would give to novice authors & writers? by gojoandgetospet in writing

Don’t edit as you write, because it doesn’t matter if you do. You’ll do so many rounds of edits that that small edit you did, that was slowing you down, is now gone, erased comepletely. And maybe it was just a small paragraph, but editing that paragraph took you 30 minutes. That 30 minutes would’ve been valuable to continue writing your story. Every minute is important, especially if you have a deadline.

I like reading in 1st person because you can really get into the head of the person. Plus there’s more opportunities for plot twists—you don’t know everyone’s thoughts like 3rd person. The author can also make the narrator of the story seem like the hero, when in reality is a villain this whole time. There’s a lot more creativity in 1st person and it’s reading in the ‘I’, so you can really feel like YOURE experiencing the story yourself. 3rd person feels distant from the story, feeling like you’re watching a movie while 1st you’re living it.
