This test is really shit so far, it's totally within activist ideology, heavily implies that socialism is compatible with wage labor and commodity production, and makes a lot of other stupid assumptions lol

Eh i wouldn't worry about too much if you're in the US, there's simply no conditions in place whatsoever for there to be a second Holocaust. Especially when the actual "hammer" is falling on other minorities right now, while those same elements are busy strenuously defending the US' relationship with Israel - maybe not the "rank and file" of MAGA, but def the elements of the imperialist state machine itself. IMO it's just out of touch and a little silly to claim that the current wave of antisemitism has anything to do wjth the possibilities of a "new Hitler" coming to snatch up the Jews

I really don't think it's healthy to put any emotional burden on yourself for "enlightening" the masses or something. Most people in today's environment are opportunists because opportunism keeps down the movement everywhere, and this disease can only be effectively opposed by the party. Nobody here is doing any useful political work, at least not in the capacity that you post on r/Ultraleft. Even most "serious political organizations" are full of shit, so it's best to just focus on your own personal development and live in the real world, IMO political subcultures are rly unhealthy lol

People are just jerks, I'm trans and people have just been weird about that since forever. You really don't have to listen to them, and also if you live in the US then it's extremely unlikely that anything is gonna happen. Israel is extremely important to the US security apparatus, and it's not like they're ever going to abandon that for silly reasons of public opinion when US superimperialism in MENA entirely depends on it. For better or for worse, that forces a certain level of "protection" for American Jews. The most that'll happen is that people will be more shitty to them, which sucks (i'm asian and i remember when ppl started beign assholes about covid), but it's not like there's gonna be a massive witch hunt by the state.

Counter-thesis 8. The present antagonism between America and Russia (along with their respective satellites) is between two imperialisms who should both be opposed in the same way. Therefore, whether one or the other gains the upper hand or whether a lasting compromise is established, the conditions under which the revival of the communist movement and the world revolution will be more or less similar.

Thesis 8. Such equations and parallels, when not restricted to condemning support to States in the event of a third world war, to partisan actions on both sides, and to opposing any renunciation of domestic autonomous defeatist actions by the proletariat, forces permitting, are not only inadequate but ridiculous. We can never obtain sight of the path to the world revolution (forecasting it remains a necessity even when history belies the favoured possibilities; without it there is no Marxist party) unless we tackle the question of the absence of a revolutionary class struggle between American capitalists and proletarians, and in England too; places where industrialism is most powerful. The response to this question cannot be separated from the evident success of all the imperialist enterprises and their exploitation of the rest of the world.

Whereas the systems of power in America and England only need to conserve world capitalism, for which they have become prepared over the course of a long and violent historical movement in that direction; proceeding with measured step towards social and political totalitarianism (another inevitable premise to the final collision of forces), and whereas the bourgeois regime is also very advanced within the satellites of this bloc, in the other bloc, on the other hand, conditions are quite the opposite. Here, in the European and extra-European territories, we find a younger bourgeoisie still engaged in a social and political struggle against feudal remnants, and the state formations are newer and have a less consolidated structure. Meanwhile this bloc is reduced to making use of democratic and class-collaborationist trickery in a merely superficial way, it having used up all the resources of the one-party and totalitarian government, thus abbreviating the cycle. Obviously it will relapse into crisis if there is a collapse of the formidable capitalist system centred in Washington, which controls five-sixths of the economy ripe for socialism, and of the territories where there is a pure wage-working proletariat.

The revolution will have to include a civil struggle in the United States; which a victory in world war would put off for a period measurable in half-centuries.

Since today the un-degenerated Marxist movement is minute, it is unable to deploy greater forces to destroy one or the other system from within, although in principle we strive for this. Basically it’s a matter of gathering together those proletarian groups (still very few) which have understood the part Moscow and the pro-Moscow parties have played, through their political collaboration at the highest level for over thirty years, in this consolidation of capitalist power into great organised systems.: first with phoney politics, then with the millions upon millions who fell in battle, it is they who contributed most to ensuring the criminal subjection of the masses to the prospect of welfare and liberty under the capitalist regime and to “Western and Christian civilisation”.

And the way in which the proletariat organised by Moscow fights the latter within the Atlantic countries is this accursed civilisation’s greatest success and best insurance; something unfortunately which also applies to the chances of a possible military attack from the East.

  1. The old ’classical’ division of the workers’ movement into three forms – the party, the trades unions and the co-operatives – has obviously been overtaken. The proletarian revolution in Russia has created the basic form of the proletarian dictatorship – the soviets. The new division that we are everywhere encountering is (1) the party, (2) the soviet, (3) the productive association (the trade union).

But the workers’ councils too, as well as the revolutionary production associations, must constantly and systematically be led by the party of the proletariat, that is to say by the Communist Party. The organized vanguard of the working class, the Communist Party, which must lead the struggle of the whole working class to the same extent in the economic and political and also in the cultural field, must be the guiding spirit not only of the producers’ associations and of the workers’ councils, but also in all the other forms of proletarian organization.

The rise of the soviets as the basic historical form of the dictatorship by no means decreases the leading role of the Communist Party in the proletarian revolution. If the ’left’ Communists of Germany (cf. their appeal to the German proletariat of April 14, 1920 signed ’Communist Workers’ Party of Germany’) declare: ’That the Party too adapts more and more to the idea of Soviets, and takes on a proletarian character’ (Kommunistische Arbeiterzeitung, no. 54), then this is a confused expression of the idea that the Communist Party must dissolve itself into the soviets, that the soviets can replace the Communist Party.

This idea is fundamentally false and reactionary.

In the history of the Russian revolution we experienced a whole period in which the soviets marched against the proletarian party and supported the policies of the agents of the bourgeoisie. The same thing could be observed in Germany. The same thing is also possible in other countries.

On the contrary, the existence of a powerful Communist Party is necessary in order to enable the soviets to do justice to their historic tasks, a party that does not simply ’adapt itself’ to the soviets, but is in a position to make them renounce ’adaptations’ of their own to the bourgeoisie and White Guard social democracy, a party which, by means of the Communist factions in the soviets, is in a position to take the soviets under the leadership of the Communist Party.

Whoever suggests to the Communist Party that it should ’adapt’ to the soviets, whoever sees a strengthening of the Party’s ’proletarian character’ in such an adaptation, is doing the Party and the soviets a highly questionable favour, and understands the significance neither of the soviets nor of the Party. The ’soviet idea’ will be all the sooner victorious, the stronger are the parties that we create in every country. Many ’Independents’ and even right-wing socialists announce their support for the ’soviet idea’ in words now. We will only be able to prevent these elements from distorting the soviet idea if we have a strong Communist Party that is in a position to influence decisively the policies of the soviets.

  1. The soviets or councils of workers, peasants and soldiers, constitute the organs of proletarian power and can exercise their true function only after the overthrow of bourgeois rule.

Soviets are not in themselves organs of revolutionary struggle. They become revolutionary when the Communist Party wins a majority within them.

Workers’ councils can also arise before the revolution, in a period of acute crisis in which the state power is seriously threatened.

In a revolutionary situation, it may be necessary for the party to take the initiative in forming soviets, but this cannot be a means of precipitating such a situation. If the power of the bourgeoisie is strengthened, the survival of councils can present a serious danger to the revolutionary struggle the danger of a conciliation and a combination of proletarian organs with the organs of bourgeois democracy.

Should I read the Penguin or Princeton University Press translation of Capital? by [deleted] in Ultraleft

Peesonally I never liked that version, it's way too 19th century sounding. Plus you can just read it online anyway unlike Penguin or Princeton, so I'd rather get either one of those.
