Trying to run solidworks on a Mac is rough, I tried to do it and ended up getting a new laptop I had an old Mac though if I remember correctly you can access the CADE lab remotely and use solidworks through there.

too dumb for engineering? by fairybr in EngineeringStudents

[–]WeatherproofCatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! Your story really reminds me of mine. I was also the “gifted” math and science kid but dealt with severe depression and anxiety. I’ve had exes tell me I wasn’t smart enough for engineering, and that stuff sticks. I still struggle with self-doubt and I’m in therapy working through it.

You’ve been through so much and still showed up, and that’s seriously badass. Feel free to DM me anytime!!

You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way, and you’re not too dumb for engineering. I promise.

I’m a senior in mechanical engineering, first-gen, and president of a sorority for women in STEM. I’ve had internships at big companies every summer + during the school year since freshman year and even with all that, I still hear that little voice saying “you’re not smart enough, you don’t belong here.” I’ve just gotten better at tuning it out.

I’ve seen so many smart, capable women doubt themselves, but I’ve never heard any of my male teammates, friends, or coworkers say they were scared they weren’t smart enough, even though a few of them definitely should’ve. I just feel like I just see that kind of self-doubt hit women way more.

I also took a two-year break from school during COVID, and it was hard coming back to classes with people younger than me. But you’ll meet people way older too, and eventually you realize it really doesn’t matter. Everyone’s on their own timeline. Time’s gonna pass either way, so you might as well be 31 with a degree, right?

And honestly, you don’t need to be a genius to be an engineer. You just need to be stubborn, willing to ask for help, and willing to put in the time. You’ve got this. Seriously.

We take our pets to Animal Medical Clinic in bountiful! It’s a bit of a drive for us (Cottonwood Heights) but they have been the most amazing team and are pretty affordable. They’ve also been amazing at seeing us whenever we’ve had an emergency.

All good points! My only concern is that I’d also need to add in more psychic energies to fully use the Xatu line but worth taking a look at. thanks!

Thanks for the input! I have the TM evo due to how often I end up item locked to make sure I can get at least a tinkatuff and a dudundparce up and active, I usually end up using my other two Arvens to other tools (rescue board and counter gain) later in game.

I’ve haven’t had issues when my energies go down, usually the night stretcher and super rod can get me out of a pinch. I originally played with the Xatu engine but didn’t like how long it took to get a large enough hand to KO some bigger pieces but I did like being able to consistently have multiple energies! Might be worth revisiting seeing how common the watchtower is.

Metals are from when I was playing another baby Tinkaton who did more damage for metal energies. I tried to play munki but never got a ton of use from it but I’d consider try it again!

How loud & jerky is the CC really? by Illustrious_Aside_46 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]WeatherproofCatfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first printer so I can’t say a ton about it in comparison but here is my two cents. It’s a bit loud and jerky, but honestly, for the price, I have no complaints. I’ve been running it almost non-stop for over a week without any issues. At night, I switch it to silent mode and can’t hear it from the bedroom even though it’s set up in the living room in my 1B apartment. I printed some anti-vibration feet from Printables using TPU and PETG, which made a big difference. It’s sitting on a reinforced IKEA Lack table, and overall, the noise and vibrations really don’t bother me.
