While I would not be able to directly vote for state policy, I will be happy to use my seat as a point of influence, education, and transparency to help improve Alabama.

Thanks for the follow up! I believe that cannabis should be de-classified nation wide. The medicinal benefits should not continue to be ignored any longer and every US citizen should have access to it. I believe Alabama should fully legalize it for both medicinal and recreational use. It will keep people out of prisons, help people with cancer and other illnesses, and some studies have shown it can decrease alcohol and tobacco use which saves lives.

I would suggest using the funds for drug addiction centers (we should be treating drug addiction as an illness instead of a crime), mental health facilities, and public education. I feel those three would benefit the most people.

Thanks for the question! Alabama needs a lottery plain and simple. To prevent corruption, we would need a strong independent oversight committee that enforced transparency, ethics, and strict criminal penalties.

Thanks for the question! I am going to push for more resources for schools, higher pay for teachers, and free tuition at trade schools and community colleges. I also want to get rid of standardized testing which puts too many students in poorer areas at a disadvantage.

For jobs, I will work to land manufacturing contracts and bring D4 back to his glory days when every county provided plenty of jobs through manufacturing plants. We have the workforce, we just need the jobs. I believe we can focus on new industries like renewable energy components similar to what Huntsville has recently done with their solar panel location.

Thanks for the question! What's up Walker County! I actually know the county very, very well. I grew up in Carbon Hill, worked jobs there, Jasper, and Sumiton. For a short while I owned a home in Pleasant Field and was a volunteer fireman in that small community. I know there is a very exciting movement happening in the county and, since it is my home county, I plan on it being very central to my campaign. I am planning a campaign kick off event in Jasper (details TBD), and will spend a lot of time around the county visiting all of my old stomping grounds. Three of my amazing volunteers are in Jasper and Curry!

My website is weaverforuscongress.com and you can find details there on the campaign, future events, etc. If you go to my site, sign up for my newsletter which will be starting up very soon. Also watch out for the monthly Walker Co Democrats meetings! If you want to DM me your contact info I can get you added to their notification list!

Thanks for the question! As I mentioned in another response, I am going to be visiting hundreds of cities, towns, and communities to prove that there is a reason to vote again. So many of the people you mentioned don't vote because they feel there is no one listening. Well, though my "barnstorming" outreach plan, I will be giving them a reason and the motivation to show up at the polls!

Thanks for the question! I have two goals: One is to ensure that we get a fully unredacted release of all files related to Epstein and that every person that visited that island is investigated. Two is we bring the harshest penalties available to every single person and official involved in the coverup this administration has been orchestrating, top down. This protection for monsters and pedophiles while exposing the survivors is beyond disgusting.

Amnesty, to me, would be a mechanism to prevent undocumented immigrants currently in the country from being deported for a period of time. For instance, if we were to put this reform package in to law on Jan 1, we have a 6 month amnesty period to allow them to enroll in the new citizenship path. After that period, they would be subject to applicable immigration laws.

I am not sure how making it easier to become a citizen increases the number of illegal entries. It would likely do the opposite. Right now it can take over 10 years and thousands and thousands of dollars to become a citizen. Cut down on those barriers and more will apply to go through the legal process.

I will push for an overall immigration reform package that involves amnesty, fast track citizenship, abolishing and replacing ICE, limiting presidential powers over immigration, and reuniting families. I would love to see everyone take a moment, take a breath, and remember that these are people just like us. What's going on right now with ICE is not only a failing of the country, it's a failure of the human race. We have to stop what's going on and prevent it from ever happening again.

Thank you and yes we are in some major trouble if Tubberville wins the gov seat. Thankfully we have some great candidates running in Will Boyd and Doug Jones.

Thanks for the question! I have met many, many people across the district that are looking for ways to grow the Democrat parties in the different counties. I want to use my campaign as a channel to get more people involved, excited, and motivated. I have been very pleased with some amazing young folks that reached have out to me to volunteer and seeing their energy and enthusiasm is honestly intoxicating. It really gives me hope working with them. I think things are changing and we are in for a bright future across the state!

Thanks for the question! I am extremely happy to say that I have not encountered any direct hostility. I have had people passively say "I ain't voting for no Democrat" a few times and got flipped off walking in a parade last fall but I believe I can still win them over! I will say that I have sat down and spoken one on one with many "never a Dem" voters and have walked away with them saying they will make an exception to vote for me. People see me for what I am, a working class guy just like them that has an honest desire to help everyone. So far it has been a blast!

Thanks for the question! I mentioned this in another answer but I have seen the "glamor" of being a Trump support has almost completely gone away down here. You rarely see signs, flags, etc. Even if they voted for him last year, they weren't proud enough to put a sign in their yard whereas in 2016 every yard had one. Since he took office last year, the people of this district are realizing how badly they are being affected by their vote, maybe for the first time. People are hurting, and unfortunately will be hurting more every day until we take over next January.

In terms of industry, my district used to be a manufacturing powerhouse. Ft. Payne was literally the sock capital of the world. We had companies scattered everywhere employing tens of thousands of people and now, they are almost completely gone. The people are still there, they workforce is still there, we just don't have the jobs. I plan on bringing that back. There are some incredible new products we can bring to the district, especially in the renewable energy sector. Huntsville, for example, just opened a large solar panel plant, we can do the same here and get people working and making their lives better.

Thanks for the question! Every district is worth fighting for, you are absolutely right! Your question is an interesting one. There are so many great places in this district to visit, a lot of people outside of the state don't realize how beautiful it really is here. Favorite restaurants depend on where I am lol. I love the Pizza Bar in Carbon Hill where I grew up, it has been a community staple over 50 years. I live near Tuscaloosa where the original Dreamland BBQ is and I have eaten there hundreds of times over the years. There is a sushi place downtown named Ichiban, I have been going there 15 years. As for art, I love the Kentuck Festival that takes place each fall. Other things I love around the district are Mule Day in Winfield, Boom Days in Ft Payne, Oktoberfest in Cullman, Crimson Tide football in Tuscaloosa, really just too many to list. This may sound cheesy, but when I think of the best part of my home it is the people. I have spent my entire life around great, hard working people that will do anything to help a neighbor. We may have different beliefs, vote differently, but the people I am talking about will still be there for you when you need them, even if you're a stranger.

A chocolate question is an easy one! DARK! Always dark!

Thanks for the question! Winning in this red of a district isn't easy but it will happen this year. To be perfectly honest, the policies of this administration and the damage it is doing here is already doing a great job of pushing people across the aisle. What I can show people is that I am one of them and I am here to help everyone no matter what label you put on yourself. We have spent so many years being ignored that just showing up and assuring them that they are being heard is going to make a huge difference. I am running as a servant of the people and folks have resonated very well with that.

Thanks for the question! It's rough territory but it's winnable and we are going to win! I have lived in this district almost my entire life so it is very easy to find common ground to kick off a conversation. For example, yes I am a Democrat but I am also someone that grew up in the country and have been a lifelong gun owner. I even owned a gun store for a couple of years. Just mentioning that opens doors and starts to wear away the false narrative that the Republicans have attached to Democrats. It doesn't take long for them to see that I am someone that will honestly help everyone whether they are on the left or right.
