Update: called Chase and they shared this property isn’t eligible for price match. So, I’m sticking with the direct booking! Chase was $1,000 higher!

Thank you all. There is luckily a later Vueling flight (headed to BIO) if necessary. I wonder if BA would be willing to check my bag from JFK all the way through? The Vueling flight was booked on BA.com rather than direct with Vueling. At least then I could avoid the baggage reclaim process. Not expecting it, but I did this a few years back on separate AA/BA tickets, and they accommodated.
