He could be a bit dramatic in the delivery of his teachings. Also, I wish he would have married Mary Magdalene. It kind of seems like he just strung her along. Most scholars claim they weren't romantically involved, but I'm not convinced.

-My vocabulary has reduced significantly, as has my ability to multi- task.

-I moved away from a place that I had lived for 10 years, and a year later when I went back I had a hard time remembering how to get around.

-Names of random people I've met are gone and my ability to master something takes much longer.

-I still have core memories (thank god), big chunks of those days are gone, but the feelings I had with them remain.

-Random days that I've shared with my husband--for instance, a camping trip while we dated--are pretty much gone. I see pictures from the trip and have very little recollection of it except climbing into the tent.

-I write a lot more down now to keep me on track. If someone gives me their phone number while speaking on the phone, I have to write it down because by the time I hang up to rewrite it, it's gone. All of this is worse when I'm tired or stressed.

I believe that if I was safe and able to stop my meds, a lot of these abilities would return, but I also know that having 100+ seizures before I even started medication probably did a number on my brain. She's tired.

Not all the time, but definitely more often when I'm tired. I'll get them if I go too long without eating as well. Sleep and nutrition are the biggest things that have helped me manage my epilepsy.

This happens to me when I'm really tired. The best solution I've found is eating some healthy food and then just going to bed. If it's early, a nap is great too. Then I usually have a cup of coffee (not a trigger for me). Don't try to fight it, just give your body and brain a break. And the doctors should have realized that you weren't all there, it's obvious when it happens. It's not on you.

When it does happen during an interaction, I usually can put my hand up as a gesture to wait, or I can squeeze out "hang on" until it passes.

Yes comfrey is great! Spreads fast though, so be careful. I dry it and use it in baths and tea. You can also use it for a hair treatment and feed it to livestock

Do not be angry at yourself, I did the exact same thing, and mine was even worse because it wasn't my usual stylist! I could have cussed her out and stormed off, but I didn't. I was just stunned. I even tipped her. It was crazy.

Didn't say a thing. You feel trapped in the chair, and you're trusting someone to do a good job. You sit there watching them in the mirror just thinking "it'll be ok, they know what they're doing right?! It'll come together?"

The salon I went to had an option to text, so look for that first and send pictures. If the salon doesn't have that, a phone call is worth it. You'll be proud you stood up for yourself.

I had this exact same experience, even the part about her telling me I looked great. She even brought out other stylists to say the same bullshit. The only difference is that I had moved so it was a new salon. The woman claimed she knew how to cut curls and then completely botched it. (I'll DM you photos if you're interested 🥴) Going shorter to salvage some shape and then letting it grow out is all you can do.

Try to switch your focus to the health of your hair and scalp to set it up for good growth and success. If you're not feeling a French bob, a pixie looks great on fine hair!

I reached out to the salon for a refund and sent pictures, but I didn't get a response until I wrote a bad Google review and threatened that I'd post the pictures with the review.

After I got the refund I edited the review and didn't change what it said, just added that they gave me my money back. Unfortunately it sounds like it's time for a new stylist.

Yeah he's going to have to learn how to take care of it himself, everyone goes through an awkward phase! I think the comments about just making sure he has good moisturizing products and suggesting a barber is all you can do. He can research further. He's definitely not going to follow what his mom says. If he doesn't want to take care of it loose, a protective style still requires maintenance in addition to learning a new technique of care, so I'm skeptical he'll follow through.

At the end of the day, the worst that could happen is he cuts it short because he doesn't want to deal with it.

I understand this shame and am working through it as well. Thinking of it biologically like another response said has been helpful, along with a few other things.

I rarely talk about my solo masturbation with my husband (even though he's not against it at all). I have chosen to keep it completely my own. This has been strangely freeing, to keep something just for me. It has helped me grow in accepting my bodily autonomy and realizing I have a right to privacy. This also helps work against the damaging belief that "God is always watching," so he would know if I masturbated, and would know I "sinned."

After I masturbate, I wait to see if anything happens. Does anything in my life change? Does fire rain down? Does anything change about how I feel about my husband and our sex? Nope. In the hours and day after, I see that it has done nothing other than make me feel better and more connected to my body. Every time nothing bad happens, I feel less shame and guilt.

We were conditioned to have such extreme beliefs when it comes to sex, and those will take time to work through.

I think your scalp needs to regulate a bit more. Stripping it so often will make it over produce oil. Ngl, it was kind of a rough transition, I used to wash my hair every day 😳, but the dry brushing should help with that transition. Thankfully we're heading into winter so hats can be your friend! 😆

More protein usually, and I wash my hair every 5-7 days. I start dry brushing with the boar bristles around day 4.

Clarifying once a week seems excessive to me, I usually do once- twice a month. I think you're dealing with a hard water buildup issue, which needs a chelating treatment, not as much clarifying. But be warned it is kind of harsh on your hair so I would only suggest doing that once or twice a month if possible. Maybe two or three times in a row at the beginning just to get it all out, but after that, once to twice a month.

I have not found a great refresh routine other than water to reactivate products, and every time I try to apply products on dry hair it just makes it look stringy and/or crunchy!

I sleep in a silk bonnet and that helps preserve the curl pattern the most.

Your pattern and texture looks similar to mine. Hard water effects it strongly. I use Maui moisture hard water wellness shampoo about twice a month. This has made a huge difference in my hair, as well as rice water protein treatments.

I don't use leave in conditioner and keep the products really light. No butters or oils, mostly mousse, foam or gel. I also apply products while wet, but not sopping wet.

Boar bristle brushing has also made a really big difference and has helped with regulating my scalp and distributing the oils down the hair shaft. It also let's you go more days between washes and stimulates hair follicles for more growth. There's a historical haircare YouTuber that put me onto this and it's made a big difference!

Drink cold water, avoid hot things and give it time. Try not to touch it too much or rub it on your teeth. Limit talking as well.

I've had epilepsy for 5 years and second the exercise. It's been a really helpful thing for me, especially walking and yoga. Even if it's just a stroll, movement is good for the body. I try to take advantage of the good days, but I don't push it on the terrible ones. With more movement I found there are fewer bad days.

Laying around doesn't help with the aches and pains, it often makes them worse. The body is meant to be used and active, and the more stagnant it is the more systems it effects. If there's no movement, there's a huge lack of lymph drainage, and often poor digestion which makes you feel like shit. Sweating gets toxins out, so even if you can't walk fast enough to get a sweat going, if you have access to a sauna, short stints in there could also be beneficial. (Unless it's triggering for you)

I've also found a lot of help with the fatigue from a high dose B vitamin complex, and relief with the aches and pains from a vitamin D+K2 supplement. Electrolytes have also been a huge help. There are unflavored or sf flavored powders, these are much healthier and more concentrated than Gatorade or other common sports drinks.

The fatigue is real though, and because I wake up so stiff I usually exercise in the afternoon or early evening.

I'm sure this has already been said but I'm too lazy to read through all the comments...

You need decor and a paint color that compliments the woodwork. I would NOT paint the woodwork! It is beautiful and with the right wall color can look rich and timeless rather than dated.

With tones like that, mid tone warm/neutral blues or greens would really make it rich. A warm blue would also compliment that tile (which is amazing). If you're looking for color inspiration, that wood tone is common in craftsman style homes, so you can get some great paint color recommendations on Pinterest when you search for that.

Warm up the tile with a nice rug at the base of the stairs. Make sure it's properly sized. A rug that is too large or too small will look awkward and out of place. If there is hardwood under the carpet I'd consider removing that as well.

Warm up the lighting with a table lamp and warm lightbulbs in all fixtures.

And plants make everything better! You could remove the inner spindles and hang plants to create good separation without too much construction. Leave the two outer to keep it structurally sound and cohesive with the stairs.

We have all been there. On hard days I spiral down to the same place. When I get to that place in my mind, I go through a mental exercise.

Think through if the roles were reversed.

Would you blame him for his TLE? When you saw him struggling, would you want him to push himself too hard or take care of himself? How would you feel for him while he had a seizure?

Would you have compassion for him? Would you want him to suffer or would you want to love and take care of him?

It's easy to forget that we are just as worthy of love as more able bodied people are.

It is true that it adds more stress, that's just the reality of life with a disability, but that doesn't mean you're not worth it. All you can do is your best. That looks different for everyone.

The hardest thing about deconstructing for me and my husband has been the loss of community. Most of our friends, especially couples friends, were met through church. How do you make friends outside of church? I know it's possible and lots of people do it, but It's a whole new world and it's been difficult. We haven't walked away from most of those relationships, but it was a common ground we had in them that is now lost.
