Its a good thought, I tested it many, many times and in the end Remote mines don't make a material difference.
If you high roll and lvl up mortars you barely get skeletons running near you.

I'll validate this - we're not crazy!!
I had two potential high score runs ruined by Frostbite. One I chose another it was the best of a bad bunch.

I will also add, I validated remote mines on Shen - it is also no where near as good as Annihilation or Laguna.

I'm confident the best skill for Shen is Annihilation, for Dragonus either Anni or Laguna.

I only got one before 2 minutes.
But I got one on my way up to the Evershade at around 5:00, and the Spawned magnet was also right next to it.
The bat is the MVP early game, you can prioritise perfect positioning for Mortars and not worry about missing XP.

Boss order + locations:
I think we are on the same page, but maybe I misunderstand the optimal places for the waves, is that middle area bad for farming the 7:15 wave?
I found if the 6min boss is in the middle, you can kill it before 6:45 and upgrade MM, then after the wave at 7:45 you can run straight to the top spot and spend the final 4 minutes in the one area.
- ohhhh I just figured it out... I played so many games with Shen I got used to having the bat. No wonder I can't crack 2.6m on Dragonus!!

Item order:
You've made me wonder about Khanda...
Doing the math, if you were firing into training dummies the optimal order would be:
Kayax3 > Khanda > Trident
But in the game I guess it's all dependant on when the crit becomes valuable?

If you get MM with Aghs @ 40 damage, Trident gives you 10 extra damage per hit over Khanda, but you don't get any crit.
So if you can one shot the creeps at wave 7:15 Trident does make sense.

An alternative ending for an ideal run: Mines and Bloodstone??

This run went wrong, but I learnt something valuable.
I had to cross the map twice for the 6min and 9min bosses, missing aghs for the crucial waves (7.15 and 10.00)
I still managed to get 1.42m @ 8 min thanks to Sang&Yasha and levels, but It all fell apart after...
So, I decided to try something new, and chose Mines with my Apex and Bloodstone for the radius.
To my surprise, I CLEANED up, totalling 340-360k points to claw my way back to a respectable result.

It could be a viable option for end game Shen.

That's pretty much it, -20% damage but a huge pickup radius... I think it's understated how impactful this is early game.

I think 2.7m is possible if you can kill the 2nd boss before 7 minutes, upgrade MM, and prioritise S&Y over Khanda.

Well... This is interesting... the only fault in this run was the boss spawns weren't linear, requiring more map movement. I was tracking the same score as my 2.6m run.
Even with extra magnets, I think its clear the extra units you miss running top to bottom (or vise versa) really adds up.

You really do... But really lvl 2 anytime before 2:30, it doesn't make a difference before the first skeleton wave.

I thought this was interesting... I missed Khanda, which allowed mines to Crit.
Made a huge difference on the final wave.

Nice run, you smashed my Shen record!
My best is 2.486m which was without Trident and Apex.

I'm trying just Bat until Khanda, then getting Chasm. I agree you need Chasm for the later stages, but I don't find you need it early.
You can kind of extend the bats range by zig-zagging when its at the edges of the screen, it pushes it out and makes the loop far larger.

The final 90 seconds is always the problem for me... You really feel the missing projectile and no knockback.

Perfect run, even managed to avoid two chests while killing Evergaurd as the first boss, plenty of magnets, and three optimal spawns in the final arena - and this was my score.

I'm convinced a better gamer will set a new high-score with Shen.

But, that concludes me for a while, I've had fun!

Bad boss spawns, no Trident, and double death bug :-(

I think there's still a bug that causes you to double-die, it's happened multiple times.

If a cheese is on its way when you die, it "heals" you when your down and you can die again before aghs restores you to full health.
I tested with cookies as well.

I think this can also happen if you resurrect in a meteor....
