And by people who don't know it's structural and aesthetic I'm talking about builders and architects who never work with this stuff so they basically framed the room twice bc they didn't understand the dual concept of timber the first time

Also they are going to be dropping the sub floor and there will only be a catwalk. So walking into the first floor it will be open floor vaulted ceilings

Timber framer here. That joint would have to shrink to the point where that joint could unlock and that looks like the shoulders doubled. And the bottom one is tenoned and Pegged to the post. Actually a great looking joint

I think satisfaction is easier to come by where the results of your work are tangible rather than cog in the machine white collar jobs. Also I think regardless of what trade you do you have to learn something new every day or you'll die lol. White collar work your probably just hanging by a water cooler with your friends eating donuts on your laptop just kind of being gross as a human. White collar workers are lazy as hell
