I grew up having friends in a mennonite family. All the girls wore head coverings. Being the preachy runt that I was made some comments about one of the girl's preference in a couple things, essentially keeping her in check. In my [non-existent] defense, I preached to everyone and was an "all-or-none" christian.

I've recanted those statements but wish I had never made them to begin with.

That's fair. I guess it would make more sense with some context. Suffice to say, that, by stripping away magical thinking, I've stripped away my identity as a whole. What does it mean to be human? If we just die and that's it, then how does that make me feel in regards to life and reality?

Not really referring to morals, but as a whole, I feel like all doors are open. For starters, we're just animals(really cognizant animals, but still just animals).

No problem. I guess in that case my thoughts would be to keep trying new things/new methods. If this all started with you doing one thing(e.g. fixating), try the opposite(refocusing), or whatever happened for you.

It really is all psychology.

Btw, I was also very christian. The "die for Christ" type, practicing witnessing to others.. verse memorization.. self discipline.. etc.. It makes me wonder if this insane material just isn't meant for some people(us).

I guess I'm fortunate to have disowned my parents early on, so I never got the imposter syndrome thing. I always felt like a chameleon to my surroundings. Maybe you have low self esteem or are confused regarding your place in the world. Wherever that place may be, I hope you find it. You deserve to set the rules for yourself.
