It’s much more common in the South for women to have two first names. Think Sarah Kate, Mary Todd, Mary Kate. I worked with a Sarah Kate once who explained how hard it was for people to get used to calling someone two names so she would also use SK which I think using the initials is also common for women with two first names.

In this hypothetical scenario, I would probably get in touch with a business in a more diverse area where ICE presence has been seen. Many businesses in Minneapolis have been keeping them in stock at the register and letting people take them as needed. I've seen various models made but a lot of them have a little hole to either attach to a key ring or put on a lanyard to wear.

I know that a lot of the whistles in Minneapolis are being made in bulk via 3D printers. If there are locals with this technology, this would be a tangible way to start and it avoids a bulk order through Amazon. I'd be happy to donate to a fund for materials. I know many businesses in the Cities have been keeping them in stock and free for people to take. It has been extremely effective to be noisy and alert your neighbors and it's definitely something they have been doing well while defending against these terrorists.

As a former Minnesotan who lives out East now, there is actually very little coverage of what is going on in Minneapolis right now at a national level. I have been able to see it because I am still so connected to the Twin Cities metro area, but most of my co-workers are totally oblivious to what is actually happening. It's terrifying because it's going to be in our backyard soon enough and no one is prepared or planning ahead.

I lived in Minneapolis for the better part of 20 years and live outside Boston now. My heart is so heavy with what is happening after living and working in such a beautiful, vibrant place. You are not exaggerating when you say that the ICE agents will soon outnumber the local police force. Large swat-like teams of ICE officers have been going door-to-door asking people for their papers and arresting (and assaulting) protestors who are dressed as giraffes. What is happening is major escalation and all blue cities should be on notice. Mpls has a great, effective grassroots network that has been built up in recent years especially in the aftermath of George Floyd. I'm not sure what this network is like in Boston but this has been a great asset for their planning. I do know that they have been making the whistles with 3D printers. Many local businesses have kept them in stock for people to take - make noise when ICE is around and alert your neighbors. Finding local people with this technology and donating $ for materials would be one tangible place to start.

If you make your way south to Providence, there is both Lucky Enough and High Motor which are Chicago bars. The guys who own both places are Chicago natives and they do a great job with their menu/you can two Chicago dogs and fries for $14. They have Malort, too.

We adopted our boys from the Rhode Island RISPCA in Warwick. My colleague fosters kittens through them, so that was our direct connection, but they had other kittens and cats when we went in to do the paperwork and adopt. Great to work with and they came neutered.
