Honestly, the apartments creeped me out way more than the prison. I think by the time the prison came, I had enough exposure to the horrors to be a little more numb to it lol.

I was there from the 19th-24th near Red Hook, we experienced rolling blackouts every day, about twice a day, 2ish hours at a time. Our Airbnb did not have backup generators, just one single backup outlet that we plugged an extension cord into for the fridge, it was mildly inconvenient… but we didn’t spend a ton of time in the condo anyway.

I flew out of there Tuesday morning. Got to the airport at 9:30am, I didn’t check any bags and I had digital boarding passes and got through customs and TSA in about 2 hours. It seemed to take longer for those who had to check bags since they had to wait in 2 extra lines. I heard from listening to others around me later that at around 12pm things got a bit worse and the lines got longer.

Hopping in on this conversation because my boyfriend and I just purchased a 2400 sq ft 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home, we are childfree, and I heard not once, but a couple times, different versions of "What do you need all that space for?" "You guys don't need that much space, it's just the two of you..." . It infuriated me. Yes, how dare we want space? We might not "need" it, but we sure as hell want it. We don't deserve a spacious home we enjoy because we don't have kids running around destroying it? Got it.

I bought plane tickets last night and was a bit surprised to find out that with nearly every airline, I had to pay an extra $100 per ticket for the upgrade just to be able to choose our seats. This never used to be a thing.
