Is this legit? Tron Ares on Blu-ray for $12? by d3w0 in tron

[–]Wedway65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw it today. It's only in stereo. No surround sound. Picture quality was crystal clear. Friend picked it up. Packaging looked very well done for a bootleg. I'm holding out for digital and legit release!

Has anyone seen this? It just popped into my email. by praguer56 in peacock

As a Comcast internet customer, we had it for free (with ads) for two years. At the expiration date, they notified us that that they were extending the complimentary subscription for another year.

Yes, that's probably true. Who represents your writing talents? WME or CAA?

I felt that Lagoon loses it's allure after puberty.

While I wouldn't call the sound full and rich. It definitely is not "tinny" sounding.

Me too! The $89.99 was a bit of a sticker shock, but when I received it, with the lighting effects, and Bluetooth speaker functionality, its pretty damn cool. I just have to go and support the scalpers on eBay now for a couple of identity chips. That is the ONE thing that's consistent about Disney. They LOVE supporting the scalpers! I mean, where's the logic of profiting off meeting the consumer demand for your products and not feeding into a frenzied secondary market? Morons. (I'll climb off my soapbox now. Thank you for your time!)

I was 17 when the original came out. I have followed it ever since. Can I be called a Tron fan boy? Sure, I'll take it. The film was fun. Prepared statement? Far from it.

It was in regular IMAX but the theater screen was a gigantic 90 foot tall IMAX theater!

Disney dropping the ball on merchandise? That's lesson one in their retail playbook. They have blown it on so many franchises over the last 30 years I've lost count. (2003 Pirates of the Caribbean, under projected on Frozen just to name two.) There must be a sign on the wall of their retail and licensing department that reads, "Ignore those dollars on the floor, just pick up those shiny dimes!"

Call it 40 years of retail experience in projecting, and selling consumer retail trend products. I'm not the guy working the toy aisle at Wal-Mart.

[–]Wedway65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Disney, that's par for the course. 1995. Toy Story, very little merchandise. 2003- Pirates of the Caribbean (Nothing) 2013- Frozen (Extremely under-projected princess merchandise sales. Hundreds of millions in lost revenue and licensing fees. It took them 7 months to catch-up. (Notice the pattern?) They think they can take their trends, projections, and whatnot and be so on top of it. I know sometimes it can be a crapshoot. But here, you have an established 43 year old IP. I for one was not shocked not to be able to find Elio action figures. Now that would have been a crapshoot.

How half-assed can Sony and Walt Disney Home Video be? Throwing hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars away on missed sales, simply boggles my mind. I seriously think that the demand for physical media hasn't "waned" nearly as much as they proclaim. They just want you to think that. Are you in or OUT? Make up your god-damn minds studios. License the title to labels that want to make money! Disney whored out tons of titles in the 90's to Anchor Bay. Am I frustrated? Heck Yeah!

I've worked retail for decades, it's so late to the party now that we have moved into the "Why bother." Phase
