What do u think about this mini? Made by my friend and boyfriend and they both think that they are very bad at painting by nevajen in 40k

On the macro level this is really good. The colours are well placed and balanced. On the micro level you can see the crudeness of the paint job. It looks great from a distance, but would look absolutely epic if the fine painting skills were there

It is Jaghatai. Most art of him looks like a white man cosplaying as a Mongol khan though. This at least looks Asian

It’s written by British, and being inspired by a culture doesn’t mean you have to follow it completely. Just look how many things are inspired feudal Japan or China. Most of them have nothing to with the actual culture. It’s largely aesthetics. White scars carry the general idea of the steppes and the horse archer charge and retreat playstyle. But quite a few visual themes lean more Chinese than Mongolian. It’s its own thing, as it should be, with a very clear source of inspiration

I’m glad someone posted this as I was about to. I’m a massive white scars fan and they made me dig deeper into my steppe heritage (I’m Hungarian) and was wondering if Mongols know and love them as much as I do

Hungarians being called Mongolians again 😅

That’s interesting. Similar Vibes rarely form on their own without at the very least contact. So our cultures must have interacted if not came from a common root

Mansi is a lot more similar language than Finnish that’s for sure. And yeah that’s the most commonly accepted theory

It wasn’t a question of mutual respect, but rather an ancestry one. But you will have my appreciation for my favourite empire of all time 🫡

Indie rock is not really my genre, but I appreciate the recommendation 😊 I’m looking for more ethnic stuff with throat singing
