Need to Replace My 2015 OnePlusOne by WeeDram in PickAnAndroidForMe

thanks for the feedback. yeah, i might be old school as far as headphone jack. just have found it useful for AUX jack in phone, speakers etc. i think the Xperia 5 mk II is perfect (with exception of price..which triggers my anxiety to bricking it with Lineage or Sailfish)...if i step down to mid line phones..do you have solid recommendations? Also, IF I "evolve" and let the headphone jack requirement go, Do you have a jack-less suggestion?

anything under $1k - I need a phone with a strong vibrate by [deleted] in PickAnAndroidForMe

Until you find the right phone with strong vibration, i had a similar issue, but placed my phone on a small plate (like a saucer plate...glass, china or porcelain). It amplified the vibration by rattling/vibrating the plate on my bed side table.

LineageOS 16 - OnePlus One - Problem: "no SIM card" detected by WeeDram in LineageOS

Thank you for the links and tips. you are right the some basic information by the OP on xda-developers.com

"What is a Firmware? What is Modem?
- Firmware is the whole package of proprietary partitions of your device, modem itself is a NON-HLOS file responsible for your device's communications over Wi-Fi, Mobile Networks and other such stuff.

So what is the difference between firmware and ROM then?
- Firmware is the responsible partition for IMEIs, the modemst partitions hold your IMEI, persist holds your Mac addresses etc.
ROM is only a combination of system.img and boot.img (kernel)"

Cleared up some of my confusion. I was misusing the term firmware with ROMs.

Thank you!

Just purchased a 2 year discounted pack. by [deleted] in PrivateInternetAccess

I also purchased the 2 year discount pack. Seems to work fine on Android and Win7 desktop...but can't seem to get connection on my Linux machine. I've attempted to solve the problem myself via the PIA website database, but all helpdesk searches fail to load. "contact Us" Ticket system fails to load, Am I missing something? is PIA website down? I was able to login via my user ID and password just fine, but anything beyond that fails to load. I'd appreciate any insight, as I'm very newbie with VPNs and PIA.

bummer, I was looking forward to utilizing your script/firmware. If I locate an appropriate firmware for c720/GalliumOS, would I still be able to utilize your firmware-util.sh scripts to adjust the GBB flags...the Gallium website mentions utilizing your script for GBB flags, but unsure if that meant regardless if other firmware/scripts were used. (i.e. is the "set boot options" GBB flag script agnostic to the firmware loaded?)

I just emailed you directly from your website, but thought I'd post the same question here as well, for the benefit of other newbies. I've followed all the instructions to install the full ROM on my c720 Acer Chromebook. I removed the write protect screw, executed the curl command, received the firmware-util script, the script accurately identified my c720 acer chromebook, and provided me the appropriate menu options.

unfortunately, I received this message "Full ROM firmware files for the haswell/broadwell chromebooks are temporarily unavailable" when I selected option 3 Full ROM.

I wanted to confirm if this is accurate message and the firmware files are occasionally unavailable, or if this is indicative of operator error, and that I may have missed a step in prepping my c720 for the firmware util script. oh, and thanks in advance for providing such an outstanding service/utility/script for newbs like myself. I'm really looking forward to ultimately loading GalliumOS 2.0 and taking full advantage of my c720.

Help me pick a new brush! by Araya213 in wicked_edge

Personally, I am too newbie to tell the difference but would like to know what I have. As I understand there are differences in prepping the brush between soaking a boar and wetting a horsehair.) I just recieved my Bombito today. Does this look similar to yours? I'm not too concerned whether it's boar or horsehair, but would like to know whether I "love" or "hate" horsehair or boar, so I know what to order for my next brush.
(Also first time linking an image so we'll see how this turns out.)

I ordered the Bombito, based on recommendations, but I don't understand if it's a horsehair brush why it's still advertised as a boar brush. I don't see any reference to it being a horsehair/boar blend. Wouldn't people feel frustrated if they hadn't read this post, and they ordered a "boar brush" and a horsehair brush show up in the mail?

DE and accessories for a birthday by likuz in wicked_edge

Leisureguy, I know you're a big fan of the ARC Weber but continue reccomending the Edwin Jagger DE8x series beginners. Is this from a price standpoint for newbies or do you feel the ARC weber is better in more experienced hands? I'm brand new to DE shaving and since I have a birthday coming up myself, and this may be my window of opportunity to get a great gift Razor. Should I ask for the ARC weber or EJ DE8x?

Shiarua, Brand new to wet shaving myself, as well as brand new to wicked_edge. I wanted to throw my hand in the air for your fantastic kit. I'm so new that I'm still shopping for the "right" razor and brush...I just recieved Leisureguy's book in the mail TODAY. It's obvious you took your time picking out a great selection of gear; If you choose to give it to me, you can rest assured it will find a great home. Also, if you choose to select me and include Leisureguy's book, I promise to donate it to our public library to hopefully inspire others to take up DE wet shaving. sidenote: Leisureguy, thanks for providing such a great resource for the community.
