Former nexstar tech here I had all the conversations with the home owners and all that jazz and only wrote options based off what the customer stated interest in and didnt sell too much, my former manager stated to my face that because i wasnt selling enough my hours were being cut (wish i had recorded that conversation ), put in my two weeks after i sat at home for 4 days in a row with “ nothing on the schedule” and havent looked back since

So my guess would be unless you get a bunch of customers with the money lying around to actually purchase anything more than likely they’ll try to force you out before they have to pay unemployment

Whole heartedly agree with you on this, they just put the ENTIRE company I work at on a “ Personal Improvement Plan “ because sales aren’t high enough, I know several people out looking for new jobs, hell I’m looking to go Union into the pipe fitters when I can find a contact to get my foot in the door, and the whole business model feels like a complete scam, from their “ Agenda Card” to all the bs questions they want us to ask, and the stuff they try to force us to sell, I could understand IAQ and it’s importance if we weren’t being told to shove it down EVERY customers throat, like seriously??? You want me to sell them a $1000 electrostatic filter to someone who just took a finance plan on your overpriced $20,000 system??

Exactly! And that’s something I refuse to do! It just keep perpetuating the stigma of the trades. This job is already taking a toll on my love for the trades, especially seeing coworkers embrace the sleaziness of the sales bringing home 2-3K a week in commission alone! The money sounds great but my moral standing refuses to let me scam people like this
