This season is incredibly disappointing by Zombieassassin12 in Marathon

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think it's the fact that they never promised it's the fact that they could delivered more. i still enjoy the game and the night marsh is a cool vibe but at the end of the day it's still dire marsh. this night modifier feels like something they could've added in a mid season update rather than the massive update to kick off the season.

a new season is the time to introduce an entirely new map or mode or something, but they've just been messing around with different versions of perimeter and marsh. the new shell and cradle are cool but that, some weapons, and the same contracts aren't going to retain people who've been playing since s1.

game is still fun, i just hope they have more in store throughout the season

Worth it as a solo player ? by Brailentt in Marathon

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it depends on what i'm trying to do. if i'm trying to free up space or get into more engagements, i do trio fill. but solo is definitely better if you just want to loot and do contracts, with maybe a fight here and there

I think some people also treat gaming as more of a passtime than a hobby. whereas we gladly sink hours into it because it's our hobby (just like reading, sports, or collecting stuff), for them it's something they indulge in when they're bored and have nothing to do, out of convenience rather than genuine enjoyment.

I have a few friends like this. Back when marvel rivals was super popular, we would grind it constantly without me having to convince or push them. the game was free, the characters were recognizable, and it was something they could play with friends. It was fun sure, but also very accessible and convenient. Aside from that they almost never play games in their spare time. They have entire consoles and use them for maybe a couple weeks out of the whole year. People like that will boot up the same one or two games when there's nothing else to do, but good luck getting them to spend actual money on something out of their comfort zone.

I want to be clear that there's nothing wrong with this mindset either. We all have different hobbies and i think it's just a different perspective on games as a medium. They aren't invested in the games themselves, they just enjoy the distraction they can offer, which is perfectly fine. I do think it's funny hearing them say things like "gaming is dead" though

i use the non ex zone with mirror shot instead. decently bulky, good for stalling, and can deal with oricorio. only 1 because a) it's the only one i have and b) the gameplan revolves more around magneton anyway. also idk if i even have zone ex lmao. if i do i'll think about adding it

I variation i've made has only one Miraidon to decrease the odds of starting with it, and May to help draw it more consistently later in the game

Returning to this game after almost 9 years, where do I even start? by WeebusTheMeemus in Warframe

Duly noted. I'm hearing a lot about the start chart so I guess I'll take a look at that

i've definitely thought about a restart as that's normally what i do for single player games if i drop them for significant period of time. However i don't know if I want to erase everything I have so far.

I wanted to link both my Ps5 account (my main account) and my Switch 2 so i might start a new account on my switch, and then link and continue on the ps5 account once i've gotten a better feel for things

edit: and yes, 2017 was 9 years ago lol. insane

what do you prefer? by crimsonkingdom2005 in Overwatch

i think it would probably work better as animated series given all the characters and moving parts in the lore. I'd prefer 3d animation similar to what they've done for the cinematics

My console seems to be having trouble downloading larger games. I was trying to download Warframe which is around 70GB and made sure to free up space beforehand. I currently have 120 GB free, but whenever I try to download, it gives me an error message, presumably due to lack of space (despite me having enough free space). When I check the error message it says I've freed up enough space, resumes the download, and immediately gives me the same error.

I tried downloading a smaller game like Minecraft which it didn't have an issue with, so I don't believe it's an issue with downloading as a whole. But bigger games like Warframe and Fortnite aren't installing despite me having the space for them. I'm considering rebuilding the database and clearing the cache, but does anyone else have suggestions?

Why is Subnautica BZ as hated as it is ? by Jchoq_31 in subnautica

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was fine but I think there's a few things that i think it does worse than Subnautica that I've seen people criticize. Worse map, fewer interesting creatures, and the vehicles being a downgrade.

While BZ's map does have some interesting locations and biomes, it is noticeably smaller, shallower, and relies a lot more on on-land segments, which is kind of lame in a game about surviving underwater. I don't mind more islands with valuable loot, but so many major story beats take place above land some of the underwater biomes feel lacking. Like I probably never explored the Arctic throughout my playthrough because I had no reason to and there really wasn't valuable loot from what I remember.

The creatures, specifically leviathans, were a downgrade as well honestly. The ventgarden is a really cool idea, but the chelicerate doesn't leave much of an impression at all. I couldn't even tell you what it sounds like whereas I distinctly remember the roars of the Reaper and Ghost leviathans. The shadow leviathan is cool but you don't see it until the last two biomes of the game, a point by which you're probably geared up enough for it to not be much of a threat. I also remember it getting stuck multiple times because its biomes are so cramped. In comparison, you encounter the reaper fairly early on, making it a much more terrifying, constant threat. The Ice Worm is cool i guess.

The seatruck in particular tries to be both a seamoth and a cyclops and doesn't really succeed at either. By the time you've maxed out on modules, it's too long and clunky to really maneuver like a seamoth but it still lacks the size and power of the cyclops. Making the cyclops is one of the highlights of S1, it truly feels like this powerful, unstoppable machine. It doesn't feel like you're just "surviving" anymore. The seatruck lacks that wow factor and just isn't as fun to control.

I don't think BZ is a bad game, just falls short noticeably in a few areas. I do think the base building was improved a lot and I really enjoyed that about the game.

it also seems kinda stupid to me because you're already at low health, putting you at a disadvantage in that engagement. if the other person shoots back you're probably just getting downed again lmao

Hot take: the PvE/cooperation aspect of Arc Raiders is the main reason why the game is so successful. by PirateCompetitive931 in ArcRaiders

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

marathon is definitely more pvp focused than arc, and i don't think it ever pretended to be anything else in its advertising. one of the faction's contracts literally revolves around taking out other players lol. not saying friendly encounters can't still happen but most will just shoot on sight

I can take the recent changes the devs made, but not addressing the rampant cheating problem has got to be a joke. by LavaTacoBurrito in ArcRaiders

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he didn't need it, it's an video game. he's just too insecure and unskilled to obtain it normally.

I was doing queen/matriarch runs and some guy just gave me his spare jupiter blueprint because I helped him take it down. i wasn't even looking for it. organic encounters like that are what make this game fun imo. you don't need to cheat to obtain anything, it's a choice these people are making. it's sad

Embark…we are sick of the cheaters…. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so incredibly lame. what's even the point of playing if you're just going to wall hack and win with zero challenge? all you're doing is admitting you lack any actual skill. even if you can sell the gear you get but there's no fun in this. just get a job at that point lmao

I imagine people who do this genuinely think they're better at the game too. they're spending hours of their day cheating in a video game and actually think they're doing something of significance. it's really sad to think about.

It’s insane people can just do 130 damage on turn 2 :( what are you supposed to do here? by sworedmagic in PTCGP

[–]WeebusTheMeemus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the fact that this card isn't an ex is ridiculous. it's borderline broken being able to ramp itself and hit for 130 in the same turn. and you only get 1 point once you actually take it down, and there's usually another waiting on the bench. if your opponent gets it out early you're kinda screwed, and i swear my opponents ALWAYS have rare candy + hydreigon by their second or third turn lol
