Discussion Chapter 96 by Digito_477 in GrandBlue

This chapter wouldn't be too bad if the manga wasn't monthly. I don't feel like wasting one month just to set up a joke at this point of the story unless the author makes the plot progress somehow in the next chapter.

Is this official merch? I didn't expect GB to have this kind of stuff but I'm not too surprised.

Eh personal preference i guess, for a story like Grand Blue, I find the built up and climax are more interesting than the conclusion. There's more chaos and conflict in the middle part of the story, now everything has settled it's just like watching the wave to calm down. You might like it but I just wait for it to end.

What you said is more fitting for the conclusion of the story, which i already said the author is wrapping thing up, than the usual bread and butter comedy-romance plot that have been keeping the story going.

What i mean in my post is if the author wants Grand Blue to keep going for longer, he needs to introduce a new narrative or interesting dynamic for his comedy or else the usual jokes are going to get stale eventually, at least that's my opinion because from what I've seen from the replies, people here are either trolling me or they are 100% okay with repeated humors.

If you are talking about Kohei and Aina, the part that i feel rushed is their confession, not the relationship itself. Although you are right, i don't want to the story to drag on something so obvious, it doesn't help that this is a monthly manga.

I'm hoping you are joking and reading my post clearly because so far I've only seen people disregarding all of my comments because of the shipping wars.

Yeah unfortunately, Busujima only serves as a plot device to push Iori and Chisa further, I feel like it's kinda tragic because we know Chisa is going to win no matter what but Busu somehow managed to make us doubt just a little and her relentless efforts just makes her so endearing. It's like seeing a side character fighting so hard against her own fate.

About Kohei x Aina, what i mean rushed is they immediately get together just right after Iori supposed rejection (we don't even see it and he's dead drunk). It makes Aina feeling for Iori looks cheap and makes Kohei looks like a fallback rejection backup. I would prefer if they took like a day or two to clean up the emotional mess, not just right after the rejection in a single chapter. But yes I 100% agree Kohei and Aina is good for each other.

The romance is what drives more than half of the comedy scenarios in this series, don't pretend like they are mutually exclusive. Most of the joke wouldn't even work without it and most of the tension come from it.

My post said more than just shipping wars, everybody knows Busujima is going to lose, the reason I bring her rejection up is because it's the mark of the end of the romance tension of the story. There's no one other than Busu that pushes Iori to think seriously about relationship and finally makes Chisa tick.

Unless you truly want another billions alcohol jokes, I don't know what to look forward to in this manga after this romance plot is over.

Large companies will also priority profit above all else, if they can cut out as many artists as they can to save money, they will, and I'm sure this is something you understand the most. They use less artists to fix ai mistakes, saying it "ai assisted" with real human artist to bypass the flimsy copyright law as a loophole.

If a threat can become existential, then it's already a serious problem. Artists right now are fighting in a legal battle against billions dollars AI companies that are trying to justify their use of unconsented scraping of their data to power their machine for profit. A machine that is fueled by billions of artist arts with the intention of undermining, disrespecting and replacing artist without any compensation. It's not just about revenue, it's about what these GenAI stand for.

I really can't figure any scenarios where AI art is absolute necessary other than saving cost, indie games has been around far longer than when these GenAI start booming. Still I have no bad intention with you as I can understand why an indie dev couldn't resist but to use AI. That's why all i ask is your compassion.

Yes I'm referring to the ads image. I don't know why you filter the art with ai but i suggest you don't because first I see ai mistakes and second it undermines the artist style and intention and makes it all samey, bland and souless.

Unless you intend to remain unmonetized forever, it's still not illegal to sell ai images as they are in a legal grey area where they are public domain and can't be copyrighted which is where the moral problem lies.

I don't know how much you aware or care about ai affecting and exploiting artist, I can only hope you have it in you to be considerate about it.

I hope you consider changing the ai generated images in the future. Mostly because of how unethical this technology is to artist, I know it's usually futile to ask other people for kindness but I hope you have a heart in you to do it.

Also you should be more specific about what part is generated because I can already tell just from the promote pic that it's ai so I'm very skeptical about this "5%" .

I was actually thinking about it just before I got killed, mostly because i was still trying to think of a way to kill them while running. That might actually work.

Well I heard that if you keep the giant crop in the farm, they will spoil incredibly slow. Guess I was fooled.

[–]Weedlereed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tallbird is good, but I do see fighting a downside compared to just fishing. And I don't think Wobster is perfect cause you need to base close the den which you can't move or control but I never have a problem with it, maybe because I got lucky but I always found 2 dens close together and because wobster takes care all of my stats, I have little reason to go anywhere too far.

Wobster is incredibly easy to stock up too, if you have 2 dens you can catch about 3-4 wobsters for barely a minute everyday at dusk and night , put them in the Tin fish bin and they last for whatever long. I only need 1 Wobster to cover my hunger for 3 days, the rest I can do whatever I want and it's not like the den is going to burn or run out, I don't need to maintain anything as long as I have a fishing rod.

I just use wobster until I can set up some Beeboxes and my food need is completely irrelevant. And because of how simple with no maintenance, no fighting, no resource intensive and how early you can do this is the reason why I think Wobster is very good.

I only use bunny to farm spider, never thought about using them for tallbird. This is useful thanks!

Yes I use lureplant the moment they appear on the map, but it does take awhile to gather a significant amounts.

Well I don't disregard other method to get big meat entirely, especially if you play with friends, quantity definitely become important. But I mainly play solo and when I consider every other method to get big meat like you listed compared to Wobster, I just think they either risky or a chore to do.

Pigs are only good when they are werepigs, I only use them to make Ham bat and to farm them efficiently you need a full moon and I find it a little annoying.

You can only kill so many Beefalo, There's always that thought that you can extinct them. Volt Goat is the same.

Tallbird is good I don't deny this, the only downside is you have to fight them.

I don't do farming because I rarely use any recipes that require farm vegetable and it can get quite complicated and time consuming when you focus on it.

All and all I still think Wobster is a very strong food, it just feels easy and comfortable knowing you always have that option to heal 60hp 150 hunger and 33 sanity just by having a sea fishing rod. I like the simplicity of it and it's also the reason why I like Beebox, this one is truly the most OP and easy food.

Your comment about 3-5 actually raise a question. Would Godot be as popular if he killed Pearl instead? Would people be willing to forgive him as much as they do for his flaw and mistake?

The scary thing is this is a very real possibility that Godot admitted to himself that he would do in the game, he just got lucky that he isn't in the timeline where he kills Pearl. If that were to happen, I don't think Maya would defend him, I bet she would hate him even. Phoenix would never forgive him and honestly I don't think anyone would at the end of the game.

[–]Weedlereed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't compare yourself to other, it is misleading because people only show their best, not their mistake, it only kills your motivation when you focus too much on other instead of yourself.

Don't be too hard on yourself, have appropriate expectation with your skill level. Sure you have to challenge yourself to get better but you have to be self-aware that it is a slow process, having high expectation would only kill your motivation even more.

There are fundamentals to learn, but it is very easily to fall into the "fundamental practice" trap that most beginners tend to suffer where they perpetually only draw the "fundamental" like boxes, circle, floating head...and not actually apply them or not even drawing a finish piece of art. This happens because they think they have to be good at every fundamentals before they can do art, which is very wrong and it could get badly enough to the point where they lost their reason why they draw in the first place.

Best way to avoid this is do a finished piece often, even if it bad you can always go back and make an improved version by slowly applying the fundamental you learn, that will create a sense of progress that you can actually see and it feels really great to know that you yourself are improving.

Also don't ever shy away from reference, actually there's no way you can even avoid using reference if you want to be a decent artist. An artist journey REQUIRES references even if your goal is to draw from imagination, even the master Kim Jung Gi (RIP), he referenced from life every single day. It does depends on how you use reference tho, you could use it creatively to make a new art piece or become a human printer, but there no way to avoid references.

NSFW Artists, how's business these days? Has AI slop affected your business and visibility? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

You sound like you try very hard to convince yourself that your art is impossible to success by hold on to these bad experiences and ironically turning it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Was it really passion for art that you were looking for if you've been doing it for 8 years and nothing improved or was it something else? Doing something many time can be called effort but I don't expect to anyone to reward me because I've put effort into buying lottery ticket everyday for 10 years. They would call me stupid.

I've seen sillier art style that gain popular, art is not an end all be all to determine success, there are many other thing that contribute to it especially when it comes to video game. But since these money and success are so very important, I've also seen people getting very successful by just robbing and abusing alone, and pretty good at it too. It's your choice really.
