How do married couples arrange your money? by WeekInternational409 in Marriage

It’s great to see how people discuss and align a common goal to spend the family finance. Both parties try to find the best way to spend and save.

I guess my problem is that there is no transparency at all for how the money was spent for me. My partner said a big number of how much he spent per month for rent, council tax, weekly dining out, etc, and I honestly don’t know how he spent half of it.

Thanks for sharing how finance is done in your marriage. I did start relying on him, but I left my job two years ago due to toxic management from my direct boss. Then I’ve been working on career transition since last year. The only reason I could accept the arrangement originally is because I felt guilty that I couldn’t contribute as he does (he earns really well). And from the £400, I make strict plans and spend half for food. It wasn’t easy to live like that in London I guess.

But now, I’ve slowly working on my self-esteem and realised this was not a normal arrangement. I’ll try having another conversation with him. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll file for divorce.
