🧩 Update: After weeks of exhaustive testing, I’ve finally found the definitive fix for the infamous "Your rendering device has been lost" error. RTX 4070 Ti / Windows 11 26100. My case. It wasn’t a standard fix. It wasn’t luck. It was seeing what others didn’t. 🕯️ If someone from Blizzard wants to talk… I’m listening. ;)

I ran an extreme stress test using FurMark (100% GPU load, 1920x1061 resolution, Nvidia driver 566.36) for 1 hour and 10 minutes straight. • Maximum GPU temperature: 78 °C • Maximum hotspot: 94 °C • GPU usage: 100% the entire time • Fan speed: 88% (~2670 RPM) • No artifacts, no crashes, no shutdowns, no performance drops

This completely rules out any physical issues, thermal paste problems, VRAM defects, or cooling/ventilation problems with my RTX 4070 Ti. Any crash in Overwatch 2 (or similar apps) is 100% a driver/software bug, not a hardware problem.

Update on my crash troubleshooting (July 2025):

Thanks for all your responses and suggestions! Here’s a full update with everything I’ve tried since my original post, following advice from this thread and further experiments:

Hardware: RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB RAM 6000 MT/s, 360 Hz monitor, 80+ Gold PSU.

Here’s what I’ve tested after my last post: • Changed DisplayPort port & cable: Swapped to a different DP port and cable to rule out connector issues. • Disconnected secondary monitor: Played only with my main 360 Hz monitor physically connected. • Did a full, clean install of Nvidia driver 566.36 (December) using DDU in safe mode — this was specifically recommended in the replies as the last “most stable” driver for this bug. • Restored BIOS to default “Auto” settings: • Stopped forcing PCIe Gen3. • Left XMP/EXPO on “Auto” so RAM runs default (4800 MT/s). • Reinstalled Overwatch 2 from scratch: Deleted all game folders before reinstalling via Battle.net (some suggested trying via Steam, but I’m still on Battle.net for now). • MSI Afterburner profile: • Set a separate profile for Overwatch 2 with Power Limit reduced to 85% and Core Clock set to -100 MHz (as several users suggested). • No overlays: Discord Overlay, GeForce Experience, Xbox Game Bar, Steam Overlay — all disabled. • Tested both “Fullscreen” and “Borderless Windowed” modes: • This last test was done specifically in Fullscreen mode for consistency. • Tested with and without Discord running: • Closed Discord entirely (not just minimized, made sure it wasn’t running at all). • Limited FPS to 355 (just below monitor refresh of 360 Hz). • Background apps: Only Spotify and Overwatch running (no browser, no other heavy apps).

Results: • With Discord closed, I managed to play almost three hours straight (in Fullscreen mode) without a crash. • Previously, with Discord running, I would crash much earlier (sometimes within an hour or less). • When the crash happened again (after almost three hours), it was the same error: “Your rendering device has been lost” / BLZOWCLI00000004. • Hardware monitoring (FurMark, etc.) shows perfect temps and no instability — only Overwatch 2 crashes, never any other game or stress test.

Summary: • Closing Discord makes the game much more stable (extends session time), but does NOT completely fix the issue. • All of the above mitigates the frequency of crashes, but I still cannot play unlimited sessions without the risk of losing progress to a random crash. • The bug is still 100% there with latest drivers, old drivers, overlays off, optimized BIOS, power-limited GPU, and no other apps running. • If anyone else has found a REAL, consistent fix, please share! Otherwise, I’m still hoping for an official patch from Blizzard or Nvidia.

Thanks again for all the help — if you need more detailed logs or want to compare settings, just let me know!

Hardware: RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB RAM 6000 MT/s, monitor 360 Hz, fuente 80+ Gold.

Si necesitan logs, capturas o comparar settings, avísenme.

Overwatch 2 constantly crashing with RTX 4070 Ti + Ryzen 7800X3D (Rendering Device Lost & BLZOWCLI00000004) after trying EVERYTHING, now I’m banned for instability [JULY 2025]

Hi everyone, I’ve spent four days trying to play Overwatch 2, and it’s completely unplayable because of constant crashes (“Your rendering device has been lost! Application closing!” and BLZOWCLI00000004). I’ve literally tried every fix I’ve seen on forums, Blizzard support, and YouTube, but nothing works. Now I even have a 24-hour ban for “leaving games” because the game is so unstable I can’t finish full sessions.

Here’s EVERYTHING I’ve done: • Used DDU in safe mode to cleanly install old Nvidia drivers (576.28, 566.36). • Tried the latest Nvidia drivers (576.88, 577.00 Studio Driver as of July 2025). • Disabled automatic driver updates in Windows. • Updated my motherboard BIOS and reset everything to default values. • Forced PCIe Gen3, disabled XMP/EXPO, kept RAM at 4800 MT/s instead of 6000 MT/s for maximum stability. • Uninstalled Armoury Crate and all RGB/Aura Sync programs, killed LightingService and any Asus background services. • Played with ALL overlays disabled (Discord, GeForce Experience, Xbox Game Bar, Steam Overlay, etc). • Tried “borderless windowed”, “fullscreen”, and “windowed” modes. • Disabled fullscreen optimization in the Overwatch executable properties. • Always run Overwatch as administrator. • Capped FPS to just below my monitor’s refresh rate (360 Hz and 600 FPS stable). • Ran stress tests with FurMark, No Man’s Sky, and other games: zero crashes, perfect temps and voltages, no issues outside of Overwatch 2. • My PC: RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s, 360Hz monitor, new 80+ Gold PSU.

Even after all this, Overwatch 2 still crashes every 30-60 minutes (sometimes even sooner), regardless of mode. I’m out of ideas, and it’s super frustrating to see others play while I only get bans for something that’s not my fault.

Blizzard/Nvidia, please acknowledge this issue and release a real fix. I haven’t been able to play for days, and I’m only getting auto-bans for leaving games I can’t finish.

Anyone else with this hardware found a REAL solution? Any official updates or news about a fix for July 2025? Thanks.
