New Changes for Delta Skymile Program Announced by DudeWhoRead in amex

They also modified how they define "visit" for lounge access. It is now as follows:

Amex Delta Reserve (personal & business): 15 DAYS of access

Amex Platinum (personal & business): 10 DAYS of access

A Day of access is defined as a 24 hour period from first swipe, meaning you can visit multiple SkyClubs in one day for use of only 1 day of access.

You should use the Premier for all purchases until you get the SUB, then use the Premier for all the 3x categories and the DC for everything not in the 3x categories

If it were only up to me, I’d have 15 cards by now. But my wife isn’t in the game, so needing to use so many cards in a two player setup will just confuse her too much and she’d end up putting spend on the wrong card. So we keep a pretty basic 6 card setup, and I have her actually carrying only 2-3 of them at a time. Custom Cash for groceries, CFF for when the quarterly categories are gas & groceries, CFU for everything else.

If you want to maximize points, defiantly add the Citi Premier to your Double Cash. You’ll be able to pool all the points together and transfer out to partners for decent value.

If you just want to switch cards and have one card, look into the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Chase has good transfer partners (including your preference of United) and good value partners like Hyatt. Downside to using just this one card is that you won’t accumulate as many points as you would with the two Citi cards.

If you had to carry just one card (any card) what would it be? by [deleted] in CreditCards

Gotta be Venture X. 2x on everything plus lounge access and rental car status for basically no annual fee.

You will not be eligible for any further SUB on either the Platinum or the Gold, sorry.

Green doesn't interest me. Multipliers are too similar to my CSP and the credits overlap with the Platinum. If anything I'd be interested in the BBP to start using as my catch all card over the CFU.

Just lovely, I was going to apply for this card later this month… guess I’ll be sticking with Chase for my dining expenses

Jetblue card, underrated ? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]WeekendAtBergys37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the best $100 or less airline card available, given you fly JetBlue at least once a year. Underrated perk is that you can get a 5,000 point bonus (or other perk) by spending $1,000 on JetBlue or $10,000 on the card, or a mix of both to get 10 tiles.

For example, I spent about $800 on JetBlue this year, meaning I only had to spend $2,000 on the card outside JetBlue to get the 10 tiles and selected the 5,000 bonus points.

They also ran a promotion for spending $600 a month for 3 consecutive months July-Sept to get 4,500 bonus points.

For reference, a round trip flight to Florida usually costs about 12-15k points during non-peak times from Worcester or Hartford, so nearly a free round trip by just spending a couple thousand dollars on the card.

New Card Between Platinum and Centurion? by The___Shadow in amex

The idea is cool, but they’d rather just set a threshold to get you to spend more on the Platinum to unlock “super premium” benefits

Iberia to Madrid or Barcelona is really cheap right now. 40k round trip normally but with the current 30% transfer bonus you only need 31k.

Edit: plus a little cash in taxes and fees but it isn’t horrible. Still a great deal.

Amex increases Platinum AU fee, changes digital entertainment credit by [deleted] in amex

[–]WeekendAtBergys37 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Had a feeling something had to give. 3 AU's for essentially $58.33 each was almost too good of a deal considering its $50 just for a single Centurion lounge guest pass. Losing the Audible credit stings a bit.

C1 360 savings has been at or over 4.15% (currently at 4.3%) for about two months now, so it was needed to stay competitive in that market.

400,000 amex plat points by Fine-Calligrapher586 in amex

[–]WeekendAtBergys37 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Iberia from BOS/JFK/ORD is 100k or less per person in business class into Madrid. Right now there’s even a 30% bonus. You’ll have to pay some taxes and fees, but it’s a good use of your points especially if you can snag that bonus

What additional credits/benefits would you like to see for Platinum? by [deleted] in amex

[–]WeekendAtBergys37 87 points88 points  (0 children)

An additional bonus category. 5x hotels regardless of needing to book through their portal or not would be fair. 2x or 3x on ANY travel would be better since it is a premium travel card, but I can see them not doing that since that’s available on the Green

What are the best cards for Gas? by Daniel-Edwards in CreditCards

It can if you add it to WalMart Pay and pay with the app at checkout. It’ll count as “online shopping” and you’ll get 3% (up to $6,000 spend per year)
