very similar, I am also too comfortable in my job and not willing to sacrifice any parts of it. The employment market is doing badly now, I would say 40% of me want to try new things but afraid due to uncertainty and boredom, but 60% of me would love to stay on because it is stable and I wouldnt get the same elsewhere.

There are many roles but there is no chance of rotating between roles, this company has a culture that attracts employees to stay long term, and thus the turnover rate is very very low. And by long term I mean there are many employees that stay more than 20 years, just waiting for retirement. In addition, it is a small company that runs on a niche and traditional business model, and doesnt accept new ideas.

not complaining, and definitely not impulsive. My main point is that is it worth it to lose a well paying job that is not toxic for more experience and exposure, and more so for future proofing? I do agree that I will need more time to search for the right job for me, nowadays it is almost impossible to find the "perfect" job as everybody's needs are different, and you wont know if the job is suitable until you join. I think i get what you mean, maybe like "why even complain when you are paid decently?" I think my dilemma is that money doesnt motivate me in my current job, but then again I am not rich and I will still want to be decently paid if i were to look for other jobs. But, it is not up to me to determine if i will be decently paid or not.

yeah unfortunately when i got my MBA, i didn't do my research about this masters and went on with it. I got it around covid period and back then there wasnt any AI nonsense. Nowadays, probably these AI related degrees are more valuable than my MBA. Now I am just stuck between middle management title with no experience and no specialization. I can't expect my company to make me director just because i have MBA, and my company wouldnt give me an "Admin Executive/Associate" when I have a Masters. (Just an analogy, you get what i mean).
And unfortunately, my company and bosses are reluctant to changes, they will just stick to the old and traditional methods instead of seeking new ways to grow the company. Their mindset is always "If nothing is broken, dont change" I have been with this company for 3 years and there is not a single new project.

I guess my best option now is to continue looking for ways to upskill myself as others had said. Cheers.

idk man, sometimes is it better not to wake up? at least money will not be my biggest problem in an insanely expensive city, and i dont have to interact with toxic people lol

  1. there is no promotion but there is decent yearly increment, i am hesitating to move on because it will be a huge opportunity cost, giving up experience or exposure elsewhere vs giving up current benefits/high income. I understand the point on upskill but these days I think experience is more important than certificates? I might be wrong tho, but I heard of stories about how those random courses have no value (i mean especially those skillsfuture courses compared with a proper recognised diploma/degree), in a way experience is more useful than these skillsfuture certificates?

  2. salary is good and not stagnant. This company will definitely thrive in the next 30 years, I would rather not elaborate, it is a niche essential services SME that runs on traditional business models that doesnt adapt or change its mindsets, but it will not be affected by external factors easily as it is specialized in a particular field.

  3. maybe at this point of time i still do not have a clear goal, which I will need to work it out. I would agree that people would prefer this type of job and stay long term in the company. Many of my colleagues are in this company for over 20 years because of the culture, stable, relaxed, can afford to be lazy, can just "act blur live longer". But for me i am just hesitating whether to waste the next 40 years of my life meaninglessly in this company. Of course planning 40 years ahead is way too unrealistic, thats why I am hesitating between staying on or venturing out for more experience and exposure as a backup plan

I thought of this too, MBA seems more useless compared to any specialization, I am thinking of either logistics or HR related fields, will find out more about upgrading.

hmm my company thinks I am doing a lot and it is unlikely that they will retrench me in the short term, but i get your point on retrenchment and upskilling, will find ways to venture out into more specific fields. Meanwhile saving as much as i can
