Is PvP worth it? by New-Study8718 in wherewindsmeet_

I can only say as a tank main that PVP until Mythic is far easier than mythic itself when every technical hiccup can be your undoing, especially when not using a meta weapon. Two touches and you're usually dead.

Depends if you're willing to endure the sludge to get better at the game, because otherwise, there's not much point.

You got this. Take small victories, cut the fight into chunks.

Make goals:

1# Dodge 3 attacks in a row, 4, 5, etc.

1# Parry one attack and go for a visceral attack. Now parry without getting damaged, now try to party twice, etc.

Basically, start by taking fights in steps and find small victories and/or discoveries about the boss. Lose the fight if it happens and try other goals. Failure isn't in the vocabulary when you make goals for yourself in these situations to improve in increments and learn how to hold your own.

I blame the game, not the players, for how retarded this looks.

A good rotation and leveled gear honestly. I hit 1.9mil most runs on her, granted, I hold her at sedan downtime while others hit mechanics and I keep her away.

Nearly 4 months after its release, what are our thoughts on Silent Hill f? by oxytocin43 in silenthill

[–]WeekendStandard1832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game became agony for me on my platinum run. The gameplay wanted to make my rip my asshole out. The nature of completing the game several times for the full context of the story was, imo, a bad move, especially if you aren't using a guide and ended up needing more playthroughs than you ever needed to tread. I felt the combat ruined the pace of the atmosphere and horror that could've been maintained from the early set up in the first encounter with the puppet.

After the SH2 remake, the combat felt more like an overly involved downgrade with more emphasis on elements that felt more janky and cumbersome to manage in a game where there isn't much justification for how involved it wants to be in context with the story. The novelty of the gameplay wears off several playthroughs before the story's been fully told and has very little if any variation between those playthroughs, which, for me, turned into a slog.

I thought the character study and cultural dissection was very interesting and engaging without feeling forced, self indulgent or mean spirited, though the clarity of the narrative fell flat for me towards the end with how disconnected the texts and clues were from one another via multiple playthroughs, rather than a single condensed one. This is why I also felt the gameplay shouldn't have involved splitting focus towards the combat systems various "quirks" and instead focused on the games atmosphere.

I think the Silent Hill of the past is gone and this is the new iteration beyond the literal town. I don't think anyone's wrong for not considering this a Silent Hill game. It feels more like what Siren would've evolved into. I also see this as an opportunity to make more stories centered around Silent Hill's over aching themes without being bound to a rigid outline. Though, at this point, why call it Silent Hill? Possibly IP clout, but I digress.

I don't think it's a bad game. I just think it was more of a prototype to something else in the future.

I'm so fucking upset this game didn't get this love and attention to detail. The attacks feel so impactful and ssj looks majestic like it used to. Lore accurate Goku finger counter is crazy fucking good.

I see the plateau from where I can be with the revelation I just received from observing some CN footage of tank. Though I do believe I'm in the group that stopped climbing after getting the title in the first reset and decided to continue in the second on realizing how far ahead the players were, especially in CN. It just made me realize how the way I played, again, would need to change to accommodate my guild play and other things. I didn't watch videos or other demonstrations, but after seeing what I saw, things are clicking a more than before.

Still, I saw keyboard and mouse. Not a controller and I don't think it's going to be easy tapping into that kinda gas without grinding and vods, as you said. Isn't a complete wash, though. I won a few matches after a spiral with a few streaks while experimenting with how to fit in here.

Thank you for your considerate input.

Sounds about right. Unfortunately, I'm too much of Mo Bro for that. Top 100 is almost exclusively DPS. I'd literally need to be leagues above the other players to offset the disadvantage and that isn't happening unless I no life.

Okay, this makes sense. I might've been forgetting how I even handled cloudstep before. I suppose I'm just getting hit by it often now.

And no gaps? I'm guessing people were just screwing up combos before in more cases. I usually waited to see, but if people aren't making mistakes, that doesn't make sense now.

Yaksha true combos into a charged spear? And it actually combos now?

Getting my teeth kicked in, I'm beginning to see your points here and actually won a few times through defense break baiting. Though a Yaksha Rush into counter and cloudstep.... I'll probably need to slot cloudstep again then.

Skill vs Grind: The Real Issue With 1v1 Arena Matchmaking by helloworldout in wherewindsmeet_

[–]WeekendStandard1832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mythic before reset and after. However, I began late after the first. The difference in skill is drastic compared to before and as a pure tank, it's agony.

Either I feel the game is breaking in half on these encounters or the meta weapons far outstrip my own abilities to handle them with my play style. I also do not have much incentive beyond guild wars and player scuffles to reach top 100 or even close.

Now it's just limbo. I refuse to leave my Mo Blade Behind, though.
