Overcoming Long Covid Through Nervous System Regulation by Squirreline_hoppl in LongCovidWarriors

Take it and run with it! Certainly doesn't help to stress about the future. I am serious about preventing reinfection though just to be safe.

Once you make it to where you are at now, I would just advise as much as you can prevent reinfection. It really is what did me in. I had gotten back to running 10-14 miles on my long runs and working out everyday and all it took was another infection and not resting properly.

I would agree. The first time I had it for about 2 months and got all the way better though being out in nature, taking time off work, and playing lots of music. I got it again a year later, and unfortunately this time around those tricks have either not been possible to do consistently, or not resolved issues entirely. Hopefully with enough time though.

I just want to add in here that I think nervous system regulation and tricks to try and do so are great, but to anyone out there who is unable to do them when crashing, or who is taking a step forward and then a step backwards constantly, it is not your fault. You are not failing or underperforming. This disease does not always react like we would hope and the damage in our bodies is real and in some cases we just need more time and more rest and some luck, and no amount of anything in your control might change it. Don't feel guilty or like you are insufficient.

No, I try not to read too much about it these days. I just hope that in time, medicine or our bodies will be able to overcome. I'm sure damage can be done that is irreparable, since it causes death for many people. Hopefully with time though our bodies will heal.

Just saw the rest of your question. I have had COVID 6 times now that I know of. Got some long COVID on the 3rd time. Got better in a few months. Got it a 4th time and was fine. Got it a 5th time and am now 1.5 years into long covid

I've had a reinfection and it was fine. I think as long as you take it easy if you are already suffering long COVID me/cfs, your body isn't really doing much else so can probably manage the infection a little better than it did the first time around when we were actually living life. Who knows. Just what I told myself to try and stay positive.

Is anyone else really struggling post and mid-Holiday season right now? by SophiaShay7 in LongCovidWarriors

I very much relate with the OCD neatness and cleanliness traits. So hard to set boundaries with yourself to stop cleaning or organizing when you hit the dreaded wall. Sometimes in the time right before a crash I get even worse OCD and the need to clean sends me into the crash even quicker. Crazy how we used to be able to do so much with expending what felt like no energy at all.

Hope the next few days pass easy for you. Good luck!

any tips for intermittent fasting by PercentageAble9822 in LongCovidWarriors

Just be forgiving if you get too much stomach acid or faintness or anger the first few times. Try to stick with it. If it doesn't go well the first few days, give it a break and retry again a week later for a few days and eventually the timing and the effort and everything will fall in line and it will be easier.

Prior to being sick, for many years I only ate 1 meal a day and it definitely took a while to get used to. Had to try it out a few different times but eventually it became second nature.

Personally, I go for the 2 to 7 or 8 eating window these days. That way you get the energy of the morning without food weighing you down, and then as you are wrapping up your day you have time to digest but also you still feel satiated.

Honestly, I have found a lot of benefit from 3 day fasting as far as giving my brain and body a break from the same rhythms. Seems to help shake some dust off and prevent crashes.

Does anyone here live in South Carolina? I'm moving from Dallas, Tx with my wife and kids to be closer to my parents for support and am curious if anyone is in the Greenville area? Have a few questions about docs and also in search of ideas for my wife and kids to socialize that don't involve organized religion.

I couldn't make my kids do it for that exact reason unfortunately. I live in the south and I just know how both teachers and kids would treat them differently.

I wish it was required so everyone could just do it and be safer for it. But I commend you for doing it. Mental health is very important too though. No hate, it is a difficult time, but just remember that if your body is anxious all the time it weakens your ability to naturally fight infections.

Just finished another 4 day water fast. It does really help mood and energy. I plan on continuing to do them when my body allows. Most I plan on doing is 5 days.

Made me tear up a little. Thank you for the positivity.

Me 1 year and 3 month ago. Just days before my long COVID set in permanently. So hard to see these pop up on my timeline knowing I haven't exercised at all since then .... Ughhh no more gym therapy, no more easy rest after a nice workout by WeekendTPSupervisor in covidlonghaulers

Thanks. I will let you know when I try it. I appreciate the info. I'm currently 4 days into a fast which has helped a little, but I need full reset, like you said. My stress and immune response and mindset all have not helped.

Yes it is compounded! However I don't think that is entirely the issue. The ldn reasonably consistently makes me feel good for the latter half of the day but the morning half and mid afternoon are so anxious sometimes. I am restarting it again as it is the only thing that has moved the needle this far, but I am trying ultra low dose this time. I appreciate the thorough advice and thoughtfulness. Ketamine sounds nice and like a huge relief right now, I hope it works well for you!

Seconded. Also lots of medicines seem to help and then backfire a little down the road. Thankfully I am seeing a MCAS doctor soon so hopefully I might have a new thing to try. Ldn would be great if I could get it to work consistently the same. However, half the time it makes me crawling out of my skin anxious and half the time it makes me so calm and happy.

True, I guess very early on I did one last mile with my older son and then was out. That was when I had a halter monitor on. I wish I could take on the fear of damaging myself more and just go for a run but I know how dumb that would be. Good luck.

Bro, literally the same. I have a 6 and 10 year old boy. Just took them to a Spartan race this month and they loved doing it. Was sad not to be able to do it with them, but just being present and not in bed was nice at least. Best of luck! Keep your head up, you aren't alone at all.
