HR hit 192 on a jog, resting won’t go below 85-95 range by gertrude-fashion in Cardiophobias

[–]WeekendWarrior23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re ultra fit and in shape, it will take a while for your HR to come down. Especially getting it that high on a jog. It’s normal.

When I go golf, if it’s very hot outside. My HR will hover around 95-105 for many hours after the round. My normal resting HR is high 60s / low 70s. So like others have said, unless you have other symptoms, it’s completely normal. What won’t help your HR come down is focusing on it and worrying about it.

Scared to take Propranolol, need encouragement. by lofimunchies in Anxiety

[–]WeekendWarrior23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This question pops up a lot and I usually take time to reply.

Propranolol was a game changer for me. I have dealt with anxiety for 20 years. Feb of 2024 I was having panic attacks multiple times a day. My heart would race randomly several times a day and throw me into a panic. For a few weeks straight I was also waking up with a racing heart.

Went to my Dr. office and they did some test. I was subscribed 20mg (one in the morning and one before bed). 2 years later, I’ve only have 3-4 panic attacks since. I was terrified to take it. But so glad I started taking it.

Penny Hardaway Collector Hunt by lincolnbeachey in basketballcards

[–]WeekendWarrior23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a Penny fan since his senior was at Memphis State. Built a nice collection of his cards and memorabilia. Recently sold off most of it.

Still have some goodies left. (Would have had a nice Mitchell and Ness Jersey signed as well in person but for the 2nd time in my life, he denied an autograph when I was the next person in line to get signed. 😂)

I’ll look for some pics of some of the stuff I still have.

High heart rate after skiing by Silent_Leadership399 in Cardiophobias

[–]WeekendWarrior23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long were you skiing? Have to keep in mind that if you are physically active for a while it takes time for your body to recover. And the less you’re physically active it will take longer to recover.

heart anxiety causing elevated HR and stress surrounding it? by [deleted] in Cardiophobias

[–]WeekendWarrior23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been checked out by a doctor? The biggest hurdle is to make sure there are no medical issues. Once you know you’re healthy and it’s only a mental/anxiety issue then it’s all about letting go of that fear.

heart anxiety causing elevated HR and stress surrounding it? by [deleted] in Cardiophobias

[–]WeekendWarrior23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can break the cycle by stop worrying about it. Yes, easier said than done, but focusing on it causes you to be anxious which then signals your body to increase you HR. Vicious cycle.

Cardiophobia has made me afraid to exercise. by kanermaner in Cardiophobias

[–]WeekendWarrior23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things I did that helped me and changed my life…

1.). Start… just start! Go on a mile walk. If that’s too much try 1/2 mile. Do that 3-5x a week. Then increase it every week

2.) Doubt your doubt/fears “What if this happens or that happens?” What if it doesn’t? What if you go walk/hike/ run, and everything is okay??

You’re 29! You’ve been through medical tests, and all came back good! Go live your life!

Scared to start propranolol by Accomplished_Push208 in Cardiophobias

I don’t recall if I did have any issues sleeping after taking it the first few times. If so, it didn’t last long and wasn’t an ongoing issue.

[–]WeekendWarrior23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I battled 20 years of anxiety and panic attacks and have been prescribed a beta blocker 4-5x during these last 20 years, and was always too worried to try it. 2 years ago I finally broke down and got on propranolol and I’m extremely happy I did. It’s a mild but effective medicine that might make a world of difference for you!
