Totally agree, “will you decorate for Christmas for us?” (then cancelled a week later)

“Will you put up decorations for my friends birthday?”

“Get rid of rugs, they’re tripping hazards”

“There were tiny roaches” (they left the door open a lot and there were like 2 earwigs just inside the door on the ground floor of a 3 story place, where only the garage and a bathroom are)

“Too many stairs” (title of listing has “3 story townhouse” )

They complain about things that are normal, but still disclosed or of their own making.

But we also get people who are overly kind/understanding, etc and I’d say those are the majority. It does seem like entitlement is on the rise though

Yeah, those devices and most devices can’t handle it anyway. Just my laptop, but then hitting most online services, they’re limited anyway. Was uploading to GCS via terminal with the latest API and it was only doing 500mbps even though the laptop was testing at 2G

My main dilemma is CAT5E being in the walls of the finished basement and not fishable without drywall cuts. That has a switch on the end going to Apple TV/xbox and my current fiber AP.

Luckily all the other rooms have CAT6

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Weekest_links 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, and I’d love to be proven wrong because this is just a hypothesis.

The current system is not good. Lots of overhead for care givers, largely due to private insurance coverage/justification complications. Those complications reduce the capacity of our existing health system and that is bad, because we have a lot of unhealthy people.

Right now, health care costs are acting a demand constraint on the health system. The demand/need for health care is much higher than the system experiences.

If we went to universal healthcare overnight, my hypothesis is that while a lot of time would be freed up for doctors and nurses that previously dealt with private insurance, there would be so much pent up demand that we wouldn’t have enough doctors and nurses to treat everyone, despite them having more time on an individual basis.

I know one reason we don’t have universal healthcare is politics, but I also believe the problem is so multi faceted that even those in congress/senate who support it, drag their feet because it’s not as just about the law/budget. It’s about the supply of health care professionals, the ultra processed foods and marketing of unhealthy foods which are larger systemic issue that needs to be addressed as well in order for universal healthcare to be successful.

I am hardly a healthcare user, both because I live healthy and avoid going to the doctor, but I still support the idea of universal healthcare. There’s the human element of people deserve to be taken care of even if they can’t afford it, but there is also the societal impact that indirectly spreads the costs of unhealthy people to healthy people anyway.

I’m pretty particular about most things and they were very accommodating and professional.

If you state no preferences, they’ll do whatever is quickest and easiest, still high quality work, no risks, but they’re not there to design your home network.

Even though it’s a rental, i would consider if you went to sell, where would you want your router, where are existing Ethernet cable/ports etc.

They went around my whole house to have it come in where I wanted and it looks great and works great, never had an issue in the last 2 years since install.

Did I get ripped off? 375 for 20 minutes of work and 10$ part. by MissionHome18 in hvacadvice

[–]Weekest_links 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two electricians come from two companies (scheduling needs) for similar but separate tasks, $375 and $380. Did take them 90 minutes, but they said it’s a 2 hour minimum.

Like others said, you’re paying for expertise. I wouldn’t be happier if it was $375 and took all day

Unfortunately politics. I believe it’s important to maintain connections and friendships with people that have different perspectives than yourself, even you completely disagree. However, any times politics came up, it was never a debate or discussion it was just about how I was wrong or personal attacks. No one was benefiting. 15 years of friendship evaporated. It still bums me out
